I'm investigating this as a suggestion from one of my
good bros in the NY DJ/Electronica production scene.
For well nigh 15 years now, he's been a counsilor of sorts for me regarding all things ambient/electronica/drum and bass and trance.
He rarely misses.
And this particular CD is no exception.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the trance/hypno/jah (slightly dub-esque at times) sound of this. So so smooth and tight. Utterly listenable whether one might be sliding
(slowly but confidently) across a dance floor or just chilling at home with the cans.
Very fine d/b, dubesque beats and really nice, near ambient background sweeps.
...
On a slightly different note:
I'm also discovering the advantages my Shure SE530's have over my Grado RS1's.
The Shure's are simply *AMAZING* with this more synth/drum/bass centric release; the depth and resolution of the SE530 bass really is mind boggling. I'm using them with an XM4 (AD822 OPAMP), bass boost enabled and it's startlingly clear and deep ... almost vibrating my spinal column at times (
).
Love it.
Of course, my RS1's take the obvious lead with some of my recently posted stoner/70's guitar rock posts that I've made but for this particular genre, I've confidently hung the RS1's on the wall in favor of my much smaller but no less impressive Shure SE530's.
...
Anyway ... this is the first batch of tracks from an assortment of such recent suggestions ranging from Brian Eno to Deep Blue to Amon Tobin and back to Kaya Project.
It might be a long night.
