Ahmad Jamal - Chamber Music of the New Jazz 1955.png
Ahmad's take on the Cole Porter song ...

This song was written by Richard Rodgers.

Ahmad Jamal - Ahmad's Blues 1958.png
Song composed by Irving Berlin, recorded live at the Spotlight Club in Washington, DC.

Ahmad Jamal - Live at the Montreal Jazz Festival 1985.png
This live album is tremendous. Herlin Riley on the drum kit. Oh yeah.

RIP Ahmad Jamal, one of the most influential jazz pianists who ever lived.
These albums are 1955 (trio with bass & guitar), 1958 (trio with drums) and
1985. His trio with guitar (up to 1956) was similar to the trio led by Oscar
Peterson; the guitar was both a musical and a percussive instrument - now
somewhat a lost art. Jamal was good friends with Miles Davis, and the pianist/
composer Gil Evans (Sketches of Spain, etc.) borrowed Jamal's phrasings to
reapply to some of Miles' best work. HD800 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> :)

Haha, Somnambulismus...
We could go on like this for quite a while I guess...
Why not. I always appreciate being reminded of other music or getting to know something new.
John Wilson and his Sinfonia Of London also great - all their records in the past 2 years or so were outstanding...
I very much agree, they are really just great! I really liked "Metamorphosen" as well, I may listen to it later now that I thinn of it.
Btw - am I the only one being unable to use emojis atm? Head-Fi or Firefox problem?
I am able but didnt test it on firefox. :)

These are my young man days and the music I listened to on the radio when away from home, except for the 1st track. I had to listen to this because I couldn't always carry my luggage cases of 8 tracks of Rush, Sabbath, Zepplin, Yes, Floyd, on and on. Still good tunes, nevertheless. Enjoy today's tastes!!

My apologize if I posted this already. Either way, such an emotional, beautiful song. So much feeling and awesome writing in this one. There are 2 changes (one at the 4:28 at 4:58 mark) that are so smooth and free flowing. What transitions!! This track is in my personal top 100 all time. Yes, I have lots of time on my hands. I even have a playlist. LOL

Anyone remember this, or even hear it before? Really has a Billy Joel feel to it in a big way.
