Like fitness is an addiction, and certainly more healthy that many...

Seems to be my main addition these days to be honest. Go to the gym/swim at least 5 days a week... I must be mad lol.

We had much better coffee in the Coffee Connection in Boston. When Starbucks got there, they looked around, and bought the chain. Then proceeded to ruin the coffee.

Other than the insane heat level, Dunkin Donuts beats Starbucks in almost every way. And, they have actual donuts rather than piss-poor imitation pastries.

Here, in Philly, I've given up hope.

Be grateful you can do that. Older folks sometimes find that their bodies won't let them exercise as much as they'd like to.

What happens if you do? It's presented like you're supposed to. Do they tell you not to eat it?
I’m not sure and yes, you are warned.

3 strength+flexibility+endurance/week, 1 pilates, 1-2 stretch+aerobic, except when traveling or (currently) moving house.

I am most definitely grateful, I was obese this time last year and have lost 5 stone since then and sorted my health out (although some people think I have gone too far the other way but that is another matter lol) .

Sometimes it seems more to do with genetics and luck then just age. An 81 year old just cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats which is 960 miles; although I suspect she is the exception not the rule. Conversely a 60 year old I know has had a catastrophic heart attack and can bairly go up stairs.

Life is full of such contrasting situations and I plan to staying fit for as long as I can as you never know what is going to happen.

The espresso-tonic...does it by any chance come with gin? And could I get some pointers on the preparation of this interesting beverage?
I like espresso, I like tonic (ask Pietro) aaaand I like gin. Bombay if available. So please elaborate.

You need to modify your exercise, for sure. My right leg is shorter which has caused a bunch of knee and lower back issues, and I've had quite a few injuries from skiing in crazy places. I had to give up trail running 18 months ago, and sitting exercise (bike, rowing) is a disaster for my lower back. But with the right combination of strength, flexibility, and specific exercises prescribed by my physical therapist, I'm still able to do a lot, including continuing to ski in crazy places

Oh yes. The only reason we leave out the Gin is because you have to drive home.
Next time you sleep in the cellar and we'll get out the Bombay Saphire ++

When I started running 20+ years ago I had 190 pounds on a 5' 8" frame. Irregular heartbeat and blood pressure very high. Since starting the running my weight has been constant at 160 pounds and my blood pressure is within normal range. Will admit it is getting harder to run now with out injury. Have to be careful as I am now 63.
