What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Fair point - it doesn't.

Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent post.

The fact that Modi Multibit and Eitr combined is knocking at the door of a Bifrost Multibit with Gen 5, does not bode well for keeping it in the line-up. And even though Wyrd and Eitr can both be used with other vendor products along with the Modi line, the sales numbers don't seem to support their continued existence. Hopefully Unison or Gen 5 will make it to their Modi lineup one day.

It is a little silly that Gen 5, which makes an extremely small sonic difference, is $179, and Multibit, which makes a rather large one, is $249. The prices are a bit out of whack.

You pay for the hardware, not the impact, and you may or may not need what the devices offer.

On an unrelated note, the Busoni piano concerto (Ogdon recording) sounds pretty thrilling
The magic of Qobuz (I have a Sublime+ subscription linked to Roon) is that I searched "busoni ogdon" and there it is! Will listen after I end the crazy free NYC jazz material I'm on right now.

Not it's not, see the recent comments by @Torq on one if these threads.

I meant price-wise. $249 DAC + $180 is knocking on the door of the $599 Bifrost Multibit price.

Vickers is king.

Put in KSE1500 after HE-6 and was like "wow these little e-stats are dark"

Thank you bosiemoncrrieff, this Beecham performance of Messiah is one of my favorites, in that Beecham uses the dynamics of a modern orchestra and chorus to interpret 18th century music. I think that Handel, ever the innovator and showman, would heartily approve. Just listen to the Overture, and digest what this orchestration by Eugene Goossens presents--it is remarkable IMHO.

Same reason I love Busoni transcribing Bach and Liszt transcribing Schubert. Not instead of the originals - in addition. Every generation should chew over and work through the history of art and music for themselves.

The only problem I have with that approach is all the power cords and power supplies.

It would be interesting if Schiit could take their one-box/one-purpose approach and apply it to a power supply as well; think Cthulhu on steroids. Each device with an appropriate jack and one big power supply to connect them all. Call it the Ringe :)
If I took @artur9 's thought experiment a bit further: Would a central transformer be cheaper than supplying 2, 3, 4 transformers? The next generation of Schiit devices could be purchased in 2 configurations: transformer-on-the-board or a far lighter device, with a DC (or AC?) port that can be plugged into the Cthulhu-2.x-floor-toaster. Possible consequences: it might clutter Schiits' product selection. Reworking boards & poking more holes into the chassis. Could the Cthulhu-2.x use a better (more reliable, better shielded, "smarter"[?]) power supply? Transformer-less components would be lighter, thus cheaper to ship to emerging, overseas' markets.

Just happened to come across this today, Hélène Grimaud in a live performance of the Bach-Busoni Chaconne. Her recording on DGG is one of my favorites of the Busoni transcription.

And now, can somebody transcribe Busoni transcribing Bach for the Bösendorfer Imperial and its thunderous lowest octave?
