If I understand correctly, you have a source with balanced output, and you want to use it with both a Ragnarok and Mjolnir 2. Do you need to use both at the same time? If not, use a switch such as this: http://www.markertek.com/product/arx-abs-1/arx-abs-1-audibox-xlr-a-b-switcher-stereo-input-signal-switcher (hopefully you can find one that isn't so ugly!).

The Kramer switch works very well and is high quality - I have not been able to hear any degradation in signal with it in or out of my gear chain.

All this talk of opera.  I have never been a fan, but I am listening to Mahler's 5th by the San Francisco Symphony and find it pretty transcendent.  Or transcendental, which ever.

The Absolute Sound Yggy review came out.  Really different from Stereophile.

Just got it and devoured the review by Robert Harley, whom I personally consider one of the more rational reviewers.

 stunningly great

Congrats, Mike.  That review is one of the most laudatory of your achievement with the Yggy that I've read.

Now, to order my Gumby before you guys run out again.

Just read Harley's review of the Yggy in Absolute Sound. He's absolutely in awe of performance and price as someone mentioned. Compared favorably to Berkeley Alpha Ref and dCS Vivaldi. He also was favorably disposed to USB implementation. Yggy was least improved of all DACs when he hooked up to Berkeley Audio Design Alpha USB converter. In other words, the Yggy doesn't need the help as much as other DACs. Good to know I don't need a $1900 USB to AES fix for my $2300 DAC.

Regardless, a good read for those interested. He also addresses the 20 bits of resolution issue.

Do you think that 20b comment was a dig at the friendly opposition?

And is it true that no A/D yields more than 20b anyway?

Sometimes, for some people, it is difficult to get by the stylized form of singing.  The opera that converted me was Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio - Abbott and Costello rescue the Girls from the harem.  Hilarious, and easy to follow in person with supertitles.

I have in my entire life only displayed one bumper sticker.  "Mahler Grooves", almost 50 years ago.  He does.  Try Solti's 8th, and Walter's Second and 1st (oldies but goodies).
