Hi People,

Does this looks correctly adjusted for the Normal or Balanced EQ setting using Accudio Golden Ears app for Westone W4R:

13000 Hz, 12 dB, 0.55 oct
7000 Hz, -12 dB, 0.25 oct
40 Hz, 4 dB, 3 oct
150 Hz, -3 dB, 2.37 oct
5.500 Hz, -3 dB, 1.02 oct
10.000 Hz, -10 dB, 0.6 oct
20.000 Hz, 10 dB, 1.13 oct

he high's have detail but just slightly lack the snap and sparkle of the SE535's which seem to hold high's slightly more aggressively. The W4's definitely provide easier listening in this respect, in-fact they offer the lowest sibilance (almost none) I've experienced in a high end earphone/headphone in a long time.

yes you are tight man, so far Westone W4 is more relaxing to use for long hours of music listening.
Sometime I fall asleep with my W4R still on my ears and it didn't hurt my ears at all.

i know this is the w4r vs the se 535, of which i have both.

is there a difference between sound quality in the w4r and the w40? or just a face lift? and the dreaded mmcx cable? (mmcx not a fan sorrry to all who are) ?

Yes, very distinct difference between W4 and W40.

W40 has more bass but it is mid bass so it kind of veils things a little more than one might already find with W4.  I think the soundstage is a little smaller on W40 as well.

W4 is surely more audiophile and maybe more refined with a larger soundstage.  If you do NOT need the extra bass I would take the W4.

i get it you kinda put it in a sense that the w40 is more of a consumer market iem where the w4r is more of a audiophile market iem.  i have have se535 and the westone w4r, but i never listened to the w40 so i was curious, i do love the big sound of the w4r also love the wide soundstage too.

Not sure.  Would love to open both up as well.  If I would guess I would say W30 has a little less mid bass and also, perhaps its single bass driver is larger versus 2 smaller ones with W40.  Just speculation of course.
