VSONIC V7007 (former "GR08") - Info & expectations thread

Also, slightly unrelated post (not sure where to place it), but it looks like the GR01 is getting new packaging/colors, and a possible GR02 replacement/facelift?

(BTW, I'm not hacking the dude's Sina Weibo or something, and neither do I have an account; I found an archiving website that saves 'tweets' on Weibo: http://tweets.seraph.me/user/VSONIC_CEO_%E9%83%81%E5%A4%8F%E5%B3%B0/1758406167)

Starting to get very excited about the GR08's! Those machined housings look fantastic.

I vote for the detachable cable to be like the GR07 mk2 one. But, its going to be flat is it not?

Well, the initial info was about flat cables. I haven't seen the cable shape mentioned again anywhere, so I guess they're still going for the flat option. But then again, it might not be, as many things we were taking for granted about the "GR08" seem to be different in the end...

Well, if that recent render is to be believed, my guess is that the sockets will be compatible with the standard 0.78mm pins; if so, pretty much anyone can drum up an aftermarket cable.

True, that's the beauty of it and a major advantage over the K3003. Even if the cable is flat, with a funny color and/or of bad quality, it seems that it will be possible to use aftermarket cables with it, according to everyones will and/or wallet...

One observation, though --- those housings look BIG. The K3003 is small and petite for what it has inside, while this looks big and industrial. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I worry about possible ergonomic incompatibilities with small ear shapes, which is odd because VSONIC is a Chinese company and Asians tend to have smaller ears on average. I know, because I fit the demographic. Heh.

Again, no great place to post this info, so... http://www.shumaduo.com/doc/20100003476.htm

...pictures of the VC02 --- looks like the improved version of the GR01... but it isn't!

The VSONIC VC02 uses a dynamic micro-driver of 3mm, claimed to be the world's smallest dynamic driver unit; at 3mm, the diameter of the driver is basically half the size of the 5.8mm drivers that JVC uses. The impedance of the VC02 is 24 ohms, with a sensitivity of 105 dB, and a frequency range of 10 Hz - 20 kHz. The earphone is made of aluminum alloy, employs detachable cables, and currently has an estimated retail price of 238 RMB (~$38 USD).

I love the detachable buds. You can tell they are near the bottom of the line because they have the cheap-o vsonic case! Those look awesome!

I found a site preselling them, claiming that they ship on either November 12 or Dec 11:
