hello there,
i've been wanting to upgrade from my HF5s into a pair of GR07. Have anyone done a straight comparison between them?? are the gr07 as detailed as my Hf5 if not better??
looking to upgrade because i really cant stand the super deep ety style insertion and the light bass coming from the HF5s

You're looking at quite a decent upgrade from the HF5's, I'd say. I've listened to them before and off the top of my head the GR07 does nearly everything better. Especially in the bass department. However I haven't done a straight comparison so my thoughts might be a bit off.

Ahh, that's what I loved about the Etymotic designs. Granted maybe not the full 3 flanges, but the elongated Westone 2 triple flanges cut down to bi-flanges were my favourite fit. Truly brilliant with my old Westone 2's. That sort of deep fit is great for me.

I have a pair of 595s.  I personally like the GR07 a bit more...a bit clearer and more defined all across the spectrum.  The HD595 sounds a bit "mushy" with the bass and a little veiled in the midrange and treble.  The GR07 also has a bit more bass, which I think makes it a bit more neutral since the 595s are just a tad lighter than neutral for me.

The 595s are really comfortable though.  But it's hard to say if they're "more" comfortable than the GR07 or not.  One really nice thing about them, though, for home listening, is the really long cable.

possante87, sell the HD555's anyway ! VSonic GR07 are much closer to HD600 signature, not HD555 junk. Those HD555's are nice just for J.M.Jarre stuff and movies watching. Had nether liked those for music listening. VSonic GR07 are much more musical, that's for sure.

i dont have HD555. i can sell my vsonic gr07 here in PT for 115€ (the same that cost to me) and i  was thinking if sennheiser hd555 ( or another headphone in this price range)  where similar to  vsonic so i can have 2 years warranty and more 40€.

but think im gonna stay with vsonic gr07...i just love the sound.xD

HD555 would be a huge disappointment sound wise to the GR07. I think the DEnon hp700dn would closer to the GR07 sound wise and may be more affordable. Or if you want to take a small step of faith for a new headphone I am reading the new Vmoda Crossfade M80 is supposed to sound alot like the GR07 and is an on ear portable so would possibly be a good headphone for home and portable use, as compared to the 555 which due to it's open back design will only be good at home due to sound leakage.

very tks for the reply dweaver. the V-moda looks amazing but is very expensive like the denon, both cost more than 130€ in EU. for this price i prefer to keep my vsonic because the only reason to sell them is to have € and a better warranty.
maybe in 80-100€ price range i cant get anything like the vsonic SQ in headphones.
no problem if headphones are open...i will use them only in home.

Hi,
What's the differences between old/new versions ? Just accessories ?
I might get it from http://http://shop.frogbeats.com or ebay from the seller named lendmeurears. Both are new versions i guess.

I can recommend frogbeats - excellent service plus 15% off and including postage I got the GR07 for circa £95.  Everything that has been said about these headphones has been true so far (including the sibilance unfortunately).  However these are the best that I have owned and pair remarkably well with the new Sony A865.  If they sound this good now, I'm looking forward to 95 hours (listening) from now.

I just found out something that made me slap myself. I've made several posts about the sibilant peak of the GR07 around the 7khz mark. I've been doing the majority of my listening with the hifiman biflange tips, but today I decided to give the large stock tips a chance at redemption. So I swapped the tips, put on the harshest Adele and Sara Bareilles songs I own, and let 'er rip. Lo and behold, not a trace of sibilance. Ergo, the hifiman tips caused the spike for me. This might just be the eq free solution many owners need. Happy listening
