Has anyone compared any variants of the GR07 (MKI, MKII, Bass Edition) to the Sony EX1000?
I loved the sound of my EX1000, but sold it just awhile ago (for financial reasons - have other priorities in life now).

To me, the sound of my EX1000 was perfect, so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative which is close to the sound of the EX1000.
I saw an old thread (from 5 years ago) comparing the GR07 and EX1000, with not that many replies. Don't feel like bumping such an old thread so I would like to ask here if anyone have tried both? If so, how do they compare? Which variant of the GR07 would sound closest to the EX1000?

Also if anyone knows of another budget IEM which is even closer to the sound of the EX1000, feel free to suggest! :)

GR07classic is more neutral than EX1000. I didn't mean GR07 is better, but I highly recommenced it for 100$ price.

If you really like the sound signature of EX1000, you may consider Sony MDR-7550. If you're looking for a cheaper one, Vsonic VSD5s is also good. VSD5s is closer to EX1000, but is much sibilant.

Any news of new GR07?

New GR07 is out with improved housing materials. The same price.

New GR07x with GR09's drivers is only on sale in local stores at the moment. No online selling yet. Maybe soon.

Rumer that Vsonic will make GR07 with metal housing at the end of this year. Also Bluetooth versions of many of their earphones.

I'm looking for the metal housing GR07.

I emailed Lend Me UR Ears and they shared this info:

There will be a new GR07 known as GR07X. They feature an improvement in sound signature over the original GR07 and you can have the option of changing the 3.5mm jack to balanced connectors. They will come in various colors but we will be only carrying the black colour. We are not sure of the ETA at the moment but it should be in the next 1 month.

Also a GR07 with metal housing would be kind of sweet.

I hope stationary nozzle. Never liked that at all - movable nozzle, and when I first unboxed the GR07 and the nozzle moved I thought I broke it! Also I hope only a single driver. Too many drivers spoil the IEM...

Here's a post from a chinese site of some GR07X in the wild. The coloring seems to be glossy, and it shows the way the cable breaks apart to allow for, I'm assuming, using a balanced cable.

Quick google translate:

"GR07X is Vsonic classic products GR07 series for the latest. Tuning inherited the classic product GR07 style, the human voice is relatively far away.
With 3.5mm single-ended line and 2.5mm balance line, through the adapter to achieve replacement."

"The brother is Vsonic's old users, and spent GR07 for many years. This does not, I heard that our new prototype to, and immediately set off over, listen to fast friends.
According to the brother said, GR07X, the color is different, the taste is still the classic taste of the old, but some minor adjustments.

GR07X recently listed, so stay tuned."

I love the GR07 cable, so I'm not complaining. In this case it would be possible to bypass problems with the plug end of the cable by replacing it. Fully replacable cables would be nice aswell, but unless it's a rock solid solution there are risks with that aswell.
