My impressions should go up within a day or two. They are indeed very punchy-sounding IEMs, but with fantastic texture and presence in the mids as well. From what I remember the VE8 to sound like (though, yes, it's been a while since I last heard it), the EVE 20 is more energetic and W-shaped. I believe what VE meant with the mention of the VE8 on their website is that it's more comparable in terms of raw performance to the VE8 than the VE6. Having compared both six-drivers against each other, I must agree.
Would u say eve20 is on par with VE8 in terms of sound quality then despite only have 6BA? Thks

I can't say right now. I haven't heard the VE8 in such a long time. Though, I'm sure there'll be other reviewers who'll have both to make that comparison for you.

Does anyone here have any advice as to how well VE does with custom fits as compared to EE? I have had 2 CIEMs before this and both had to undergo extensive refits. I just want something to use right out of the box!

I cannot get over the amount of information that is presented with the Erlkonig. I use my (now sold) A18t and my current A18s as a point of reference for details and the Erlkonig manages to outdo both by a solid margin.

Each track I hear through this IEM just has more and more to it than before, it's very very impressive. As people have mentioned before, an IEM with this level of musicality and details makes for such an awesome listen.

Nice! Which is your favourite tuning switch?

#2 , followed by #1, 3 and 4 are too bass light for my tastes, I listen to a lot of EDM and need a bass presence.

#1 for me has a bit too much bass, so I'd only go there if I'm wanting that extra thump, 2 is the most balanced to me and allows the highs to shine a bit more.

I recall #1 and #2 had the edge for me when I went for an audition. I can't quite remember much of it but what stood out was how "grand" it sounded. Lush yet not to the point of becoming thick

Yep, the tuning is done so well. Engaging and musical sound while still throwing gobs of detail at you. I feel lots of highly detailed IEMs tend to sound a bit thin but it’s not the case here.

Exactly! Sucked out lower mids, boosted upper mid + treble for the sake of clarity; I like my midrange well-balanced too. The guys at VE do know how to properly tune their stuff. Even their "entry-level" VE2 impressed me for a dual driver monitor!

You're not making this easy on us plebs. If Erlky had a DD I probably would have auctioned off a kidney by now.

I’m a sucker for DD bass too, and after the elysium DD mids as well, but I’m also a believer that BA bass done right can come pretty close to DDs. I don’t think the texture will get there but it’s not too far.

Get on Barra’s tour and demo everything ;) your wallet may be in trouble though.

The EVE 20 agrees with your sentiment. ;)

I've tried some of the best BA bass out there and, while it can get close I've yet to be fully won over for the long term. I would love to be on Barra's tour but alas being in Canada I am not eligible.

Ah that’s a bummer and probably a blessing at the same time. Barra’s tours have done some insane damage to my wallet over the years.

I’m a bit more lenient when it comes to bass tuning in IEMs than treble and mids, I can’t use an IEM if I’m not completely satisfied with those. The Legend X taught me that lesson.
