I'm not mad or anything. I just would have rather used the last of my Bloom Audio store credit on the VE EXT MK II instead of the Phönix. Having said that, I've already got one of the best bass enhanced IEMs currently available on the market. The Astell&Kern NOVUS. So the EXT MK II would be redundant.

I prefer to have complimentary IEMs instead of very similar ones. I feel like all of my current IEMs compliment one another really well.

The EXT MK II looks pretty awesome though!
EXT wasn’t really “known” for its bass. It has very good bass in terms of texture but wasn’t especially deep reaching. It was more known for its musicality and mids. It’s still my favourite IEM to date despite hearing a lot of newer TOTL stuff … can’t wait to hear the MKII

Is it similar to the Phönix? I know it's mids are also great.

No they sound quite different, I preferred phonix to the Aura slightly but Phonix sounded more intimate than Aura. They were sort of aligned in the signature that they were going for but Phonix had more character and sounded slightly more forward (IMO). EXT has much more of a sub bass and upper treble emphasis than both and the mids have a very special DD character that I’m yet to hear anywhere else. EXT excels less in the characteristics that audiophiles tend to index for (pulling out the minutia of detail, razor sharp layering and separation) and focuses on texture and musicality… it’s hard to put into words, it sounds “real” for lack of a better term and tangible… it also scales like no other and sounds absolutely huge (when amped well).

Hmm. May not be my cup of tea then. I tend to like a lot of detail and resolution. Just a personal preference.

Yeah EXT (and EXT mkII im assuming) probably wouldn’t be your bag then, it’s definitely not a detail monster but does sound quite unique.
I feel like the Phönix I just got covers the more musical warm sound while still maintaining excellent detail retrieval. Only thing I wished it had Was a couple of Dynamic Drivers, but the BA bass drivers actually do a better job than the UM Multiverse Mentor I briefly had and returned for the Aroma Audio Fei Wan at MusicTeck. Thank you for your very informative, prompt, and respectfull reply!

I'm very interested in an VE10 / VEX entry on squig.link. Am I searching wrong, or is there still no measurement available? Are there other sources that I could download and import to squig.link?

Hello everyone,

as the owner of an VE Erlkönig LE, I wanted to ask you guys which cable on the Erlkönig LE other owners have been satisfied with.

The background to my question is that I switched from the OG cable to a silver cable and to the PW Audio FS, but was never satisfied and went back to the OG cable. I think that by changing the cable I was hoping for an augmentation of Erlkönig's technical performance, an increase in resolution and a little more room for the highs.

What is your preferred cable for your Erlkönig at the moment?

I have actually stayed with the OG cable for the ERLK LE. I was not happy with the PW 1950’s on it and not happy with the Orpheus on it ( this was a long time ago and do not remember all the reasons ).

I would have guessed that another quality silver cable would work, but I really do not feel the need to change it.
