Violectric V222 and V202

Patience is not one of my virtues - I just ordered a V222 from Thomann to drive my HD800S (amongst others). I'm hoping that the V222 will add some body to the sound compared with my currently used SMSL SH9 THX 888 amp.
If it's like my V200, rest assured that the V222 will have a more textured sound and a farther soundstage. I await your comparison with THX, certainly very interesting.

I bet that it will do.

Hello, I am thinking of purchasing the v222, but its older brother v340 also catches my attention. Beyond the technical aspects, basically the v340 also offers a pre-amplifier. How do they compare in terms of sound? Is the v340 worth it vs the v222? There isn't much info about the v340 on the internet...thanks!
Don't forget that the V226 (which is the V222 with DAC included) also offers a pre-amp output. It costs ~$300 more than the V222, but about $600 less than the V340.

If it was me, wanting that V222 sound but also wanting a preamp, I'd get the V226 and not even use the DAC.

I don't need the pre-amp feature and will be getting a separate R2R DAC once I've saved up for one, so just the straight amp is all I need.

I see. So the 222 isn't worth the extra $$$ if I don't own any balanced headphones cables
Exactly. And additionally the V202 has better gain factor than the single ended output of the V222. Amp circuit is the same. A much better value for single ended headphones.
