Will do, thanks for you suggestion. I realized it when I read your post. I do not really pay attention to what USb I am using
I will need to be mindful of which USB works for the go dap x
Cheers

This review is way too late but better late than never. I've written up a quick thought on my customised X :-

Very nice and informative review Sean
I am agreed that go dap x with LME 49860 is the best op amp for go dap x

Thx. Also I think dropping the Output Impedance from 47 ohm to 10 ohm is quite key too. Especially for driving IEMs and low impedance headphones.

DSD would have to be PC Audio I guess (i.e. DoP). Sadly this time I wasn't privy to their new product prior to announcement.

That should be the case. This one is like Go-Dap X on steroids.
size]

Based on their spec, it can play up to 32bit. That's a bit insane right?

So the SounDroid Typhoon (a sudden urge to call it Thyroid for some reason!!) has a headphone output impedance of 10 ohm even though it's outputting 80mW/ch. It's larger than the Go-DAP X, and probably more the size of the DD 9V. The OpAmps are interchangeable however no room for the OPA627SM.

There are 3 switches on the side for :-
1) Gain level
2) upsampling sample rate
3) upsampling word length (16/24bit)

It still charges the iPhone if needed (or used as a USB battery pack). Take line in and optical in.

The DAC is a new Taiwanese maker whose name I couldn't catch but it's DSD capable. Hopefully I'll get a sample to test.

I tried it just now.
Color me impressed.
AD8066 and OPA627AU -clear, punch and clarity.
Found myself nodding my head which is a good sign.
Also tried Muse8920, Muse01.

The op amps arent fixed so you can switch them about.

Also they have a slip case similar to the Verza which flips open(does the verza flip open?).

That's correct. The OpAmps are sitting on sockets, not soldered onto the PCB.

I saw the case they had. Very nice. It's kinda even slightly more streamlined than the Verza. My only concern are the magnets that hold the swivel closed. I wonder if a strong shake would cause the door to open and your iPhone 5 to fall out.

Edit: That case fits the X, the new Thyroid, as well as the DD if I'm not mistaken.

Today I spend about an hour talking with Hamada san from VentureCraft. Here are more information about Typhoon.

There are two DAC chip. One for iDevice another for PC USB. iDevice DAC is TI PCM5102. USB DAC is from China/Taiwan SA9027 that can do DSD to PCM. For iDevice, they have an option to change sampling rate and bit depth for playback start from 48kHz/96kHz/192kHz and 16/24/32bit. 32bit is not implemented on this prototype but will included in the future. There will be only one version with OP275 OpAmp. You can switch to whatever OpAmp that you like. (I'm email to Hamada san asking about the limitation of OpAmp that can be place on Typhoon right now.) Typhoon use only one OpAmp. (Go-Dap X, DD Socket 1, and LE use two OpAmp. One per channel.)

Estimate available from mid to late June.

Price: 50,000 yen

Look great!! How was the iDevice upsampling option?
