Here is the video to introduce the new product and service:

"THE END OF UBIQUITY"... the future is forg3D

Enjoy, it has been nearly 4 years of hard work to make this a reality!

The kits are compatible with the hundreds of thousands of Crossfades + XS we have ever produced.

Cheers!

Thank you for sharing the Link and Information.  At this time is the site able to take orderes as well as handle the customization of the shields?

Yes, they are available to order TODAY and take a few days to ship depending on the material! The plated metals take the longest because it goes through 11+ steps to make and a lot of it is by hand.

Cheers,

Val

Great job Val! V-MODA headphones looked good before but the new 3D-printed shields take them over the edge. This is a big jump to looking really great and premium. Unless my iPhone is deceiving me (the customizer is a bit difficult to use on the iPhone), the $25 price is right too for these. Still impressed with my choice of the M-100.

Edit: Is the $11,000 price for the 14k gold (plated?) 3D shields correct or is this another billion-dollar launch day price? Seems very steep but I had faith it would be affordable since gold plating is relatively cheap.

14k Gold Plated are $330 a pair... they include the design service and also go through a complex 11+ step process to make it a reality.

Precious & Cast Metals are made using a complex process, hi-res 3D printing is used to create a mold. Metal is then cast into the mold, the shield is extracted and finished by meticulous hand polishing (plated metals add an additional two stages of plating) - See more at: http://v-moda.com/crossfade-m-100#sthash.9HECXn08.dpuf

I have no doubts about the quality of the materials or processes, but the sculpture design in 14k gold is still showing up at $11,000 for me.

Love the brand and its story, by the way. I've read every review and top 10 list before deciding on the M-100, and still read up on the company! Hopefully its over-ear successor takes its time to release since I will probably be tempted to upgrade after only a few months :).

The sculpture design is beautiful so I will play around with the other materials to find the most affordable option for it.

Edit: I've been selecting 14k gold assuming it was gold-plated but the gold-plated is a separate option! My bad.

Probably V-Moda has found a market gap with this highly customisable 3D thing... Yeah, it looks cool. And probably it will take the attention of the fashion following crowd. Good luck with that. I wish you a great income from this.
But me personally I am happy with the matt balck version. I do not care much how it looks like... It looks quite fine. Especially for $220 brand new. :)
All I care is sound quality. And with my bassy music genres it sounds extremely enjoyable. :)
I would never spend $20 for different earphone shields. Not to mention $40.000. :) I guess I am just a different target group. :)

Go with the gold plated... its much less!

But it does take over 13+ steps to make, it is very complex and hand finished.

I'll outline how its made later once I finish the graphic.

Well, here is a beta that I did:

As you can see this is very complex and jewelry-grade. It is also designed in Milan and made in NYC for the highest quality.

It is not easy, but it is worth it and we feel the pricepoints are very low considering the man hours, hand polishing and specialized labor that go into each piece.  In fact, we may have to raise the costs of design in the future.  This is why it is Beta.

In the future, I am sure 3D printers will be able to almost finish a part, but for now they are just one small stage of a much larger hand crafted finishing process and they are very bad at tolerances and warping!

Timeless Milanese Designs
V-MODA’s collection of designs were inspired by Milan’s tradition of Renaissance art, meticulous attention to detail and trendsetting attitude.

Monogram – The epitome of timeless, classic and elegant personalization inspired by the monograms on tailor-made shirts adorned by professionals in the Quadrilatero della Moda (‘quadrilateral of fashion’).

Victory and Vectory (Monogram) – A symbol of triumph and success, wreaths made of laurel or olive leaves were used by Romans as a crown of victory. The symbol is perfect for celebrating any achievement in your life. These designs also pay tribute to the triumphs of the Crossfade M-100 and XS which have won 21+ editors’ choice awards.

Sculpture (Monogram)– This design pays homage to renaissance sculptors and Michelangelo, whose last sculpture is outside of the V-MODA Milano studio. The design also features the shoreline of iconic Ibiza, the music mecca for multitudes of EDM fans and where the idea for V-MODA was born.

Studs – An everlasting motif that is classic, medieval or vogue depending on the material and finish.

V-MODA Logo – The iconic “V” logo of the brand behind the next Industrial Revolution in wearable technology.

Endorse Yourself
Available initially as a Beta feature, upload your own design in 2D of 3D for embossing by the V-MODA Milano’s 3D sculptors. The logo will be embossed at a height of 1mm and the design should have lines with a minimal thickness of around .8-1mm at the sharpest point to ensure the best results on the 3D headphones.

Whether you are a DJ looking to endorse yourself, an audiophile who demands the best, a maker exploring the future, a gamer flashing your badge or want to stand out from the sea of plastic headphones, V-MODA’s 3D headphones are now available in infinite options at every price point.

Ultimate Versatility

The 3D printed shields are the latest addition to the venerable V-MODA accessory ecosystem that make the Crossfade and XS series the ultimate headphones for home, on-the-go and on stage. The 3D printed shields are compatible with the hundreds of thousands of V-MODA Crossfade series and XS headphones already in use. They join the accessory collection of BoomPro mic for gamers/broadcasters, XL cushions, CoilPro cable, 1/3-button cables, Vamp DAC/AMP and laser engraved aluminum shields.

New Lower Pricing and Availability
V-MODA is ushering in the next industrial revolution of A.M. (additive manufacturing) to the people and is therefore reducing the everyday price on Crossfade M-100, XS and Crossfade LP2 to allow people to upgrade to 3D printed shields and spread the word.

The fiber 3D shields are included in the purchase of a new XS and Crossfade M-100 at the new lower price of $200 and $270, respectively. Retailers will sell the Crossfade M-100 at $249.99, Crossfade LP2 at $149.99 and XS at $179.99 to allow users to upgrade their shields and purchase accessories such as BoomPro Mic or XL cushions. Additionally, upload your own design (in Beta) is at no extra charge with purchase of a headphone or metal shields from V-MODA.com.

So that means I have to buy the shields in order to enjoy the discounts on the XS and the M100?

No, we lowered the price on Crossfade M-100 + XS everywhere that way you can upgrade to steel shields/BoomPro/XL or any accessory.

Stores sell M-100 for $249.99 now and XS for $179.99

I simply cannot see how anyone would spend 500+ dollars on shields for 250 dollar headphones. I'm the biggest fan in the world of the m100s especially at their new 250 dollar cost...but that's just insane to me. I would love to see numbers on how many precious metal shields they sell. I mean for the DJ celebrity crowd...sure...but for regular joes...I just don't understand it. Maybe I'm getting old.

That is just showing the range we offer...

The fiber is $40-50, the steel is $100-150 (best value for amazing metal), and goes up from there...

People love 14k rose gold too, with an XS it is only $520 (less than a smartphone!).

Different choices for all!

We also have lower prices on some materials with the purchase of a headphone.

Oh yeah I get it. I was only pointing out the precious metals. The other options are obviously more in line w what I'd lay out for accessories for my m100s. I personally love the matte look so I've never even changed out my shields as it is. So I guess I'm not in the demographic anyway. Old and boring I say. At 37 years old.

I definitely appreciate the attempt to be different that's for sure. It'll definitely separate V-MODA from the rest even though with your teams service to me in the past I feel you've already done a great job at differentiating. So kudos.

Here are some fiber, very lightweight.  Also good for testing a design so that you could upgrade later to a new materials:
