USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

BGVP T01S has been mentioned in this thread before. The 3.5mm version is based on the Conexant CX31993–nothing really new here. More interesting are the 2.5/4.4 balanced versions of the T01S: they use a CX31998 chip. Jcally, AkLIAM and others have similar balanced dongles based on a CX31988. Not sure if it’s a typo on the BGVP side, or a new Conexant chip.

When searching CX31998, google comes up with nothing. Taking into consideration that T01S has been around for a couple of years, I highly doubt that BGVP will bother update its hardware. No need using different ICs since T1S isn't balanced even though its socket is.

Hi,

Did you get an answer to this? I'm currently in the same dilemma, Abigail Pro (CX31993) vs JCALLY JM25 (ES9318C).

I'm not able to find any info on JCALLY JM25 (ES9318C) or a comparison between the two.

Which one did you end up going for?
I already have a CX31993 and I got the Hisense phone which already has a decent chip. I'm not gonna use a dongle with it as it kind of defeats the purpose, I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Which parameter is more important in terms of a dongle's ability to properly drive (not only loud) headphones:
  1. output power expressed in mW@32 Ohm or
  2. output level expressed in Vrms@32 Ohm
They're interchangeable measurements.
If you have power and resistance you can calculate voltage; and if you have voltage and resistance you can calculate power.

Dear friends here is my Penon Tail Review.
Nothing groundbreaking but excellent performance for the price.

Im planning on going for the f.audio ks01. I know it is not that simple, but how does the ess9038q2m compare to the rest of the lineup in a similar pricerange? If I understand this correctly, this is the highest end chip in the pricerange.

Yes I have read the few reviews, but I would like to hear a few words if anyone has knowledge on this.

The implementation matters. The DS1 sounds outstanding. The TP30 sounds lackluster. Both have ES9038Q2M.

Xduuo Link2bal is still my favorite-sounding implementation of the CS43131. Easygoing nature, great bass, wide soundstage. Most importantly it's timbrally the most "correct" to my ears. Others may have more details/dynamics/technicals but they don't have the right tonal balance. Looking at you Fiio, ibasso, moondrop
