USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

Appears considerably weaker: 120mW vs 280mW @32Ohm, balanced.

Joshua did like it though :)

Double the power is only an extra 3dB. Doubling the power is probably meaningless.

I think this might be a case of them being a little more honest on the spec sheet. When measured most of the dual CS43131 come out around the 120-140mw range into 32Ohms if they don't have any additional amplification. That's where the Dawn 4.4 came out: https://www.l7audiolab.com/f/moondrop-dawn/

Also the graph they've put up alongside it seems odd? Think those might be the voltage numbers and they've labelled the axis wrong?

I had the iBasso DC04PRO for a few days, practically unusable, the slightest and barely perceptible movement was enough to lose the connection, maybe they wanted to push the user to also buy their upgrade cable. And I also had to spend €25 out of my own pocket to return it. I will never buy anything from the brand again.
it's a pity you had such an experience. I have been using the DC04 Pro for over 5 months and i have faced that issue once because i hadn't plugged the cable in properly.

I've also heard people not liking the sterile lifeless midrange of dawn. Will dawn pro be different?

The cable I received with DC04Pro was completely non-functioning. Thankfully, upon being informed, the retailer sent me an alternative Fiio LT-TC3 as a replacement.

Yes, this indeed may be the case.

For example, Tempotec Sonata BHD Pro quote output power = 280mW@4.4mm/32ohm, but measurements (ASR forum) show only 137mW :nerd:

A question to the dongle gurus

Which parameter is more important in terms of a dongle's ability to properly drive (not only loud) headphones:
  1. output power expressed in mW@32 Ohm or
  2. output level expressed in Vrms@32 Ohm

At least the DC04PRO can run in class AB and doesn't have the "micro-clicks" issue like many other CS43131 or CS43198 devices.
For thoses wondering what is the "micro-clicks" issue oO https://reference-audio-analyzer.pro/en/demo-cs131.php#gsc.tab=0

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a good Type C to 3.5 mm dongle for my Android phone and a few IEMs that I have. I have Blons BL-03, KZ - X Crinacle CRN and Salnotes Zero. My friend also has MOONDROP - Chu II, so I'm gonna check those out as well.

An audiophile friend of mine said VE Odyssey HD is the best, but since they are no longer available, which Type C to 3.5 mm dongle would you guys recommend that's as good or better than VE Odyssey HD?

Looking forward to your recommendations.

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day :)

Hoping someone can help.
I’m in the UK and I’m struggling to find a suitable DAC for my new iPhone (with USB C).
I’m looking for one as small as something like the Rhodium but hoping to pay a bit less.
I’d like one that supports 24/192.
The other similar ones I’ve seen mentioned on here all come from China and seem to be sold out.

I suggest you test dongle beforehand. Some dongle is not compatible with iphone 15. Asus ESS dongle for example, cannot adjust volume in iphone. It is at max volume only. Now I am looking for good usb c to 3.5 for daily use too.

As i test now, ve megatron works and fiio dongle that comes with fiio ff1 works
