Then after dc04 pro then a dc03 ultra🤭

Damn my dc03 pro order is still in transit due in feb 12. I really hoped it had a big boost in sound quality to my dc03.

My dc03 is in the closet upon arrival of the dc03 pro .. more clarity, real sounding and tighter bass in my NUC+Naim Muso PC setup .. with ifi idefender+ to cut pc usb power and fed 5v from LT3045 lps.

Unfortunately no window equivalent of android UAC app but sounding good enuff for a mere sgd65 via shoppee.

Would appreciate if anyone had compared the dc03 pro to dc06 via SE to share if dc06 is a worthy upgrade 🙏

Cheers.

Now that you said this, I'm really really excited with my dc03 pro upgrade.

I heard some say it's more balanced and matured sound too, compared to the old dc03 which is kinda very colored and highly euphonic. With more details, more textured bass. I hope I'll hear it with my iem tho. Thanks alot again for the feedbacks. I highly appreciate it. 🙏👍

My biggest gripe with ibasso dongles

Fortunately, it does not really bother me too much in PC setup as it is still usable and sounds excellent at default setting shared in earlier posts.

I tried the older Mojo and could not even get it to work with Squeezelite-x as it was not even detected. My main system is the Antipode cx server and ex player and I chose Squeezelite-x for stability and sound quality which then leaves me no choice to play from the Antipode cx server in this PC setup.

Cheers.

Many may not agree but the truth is that I have a really hard time to distinguish differences between the RU6, the DC03 Pro and the inexpensive apple dongle. I'm not saying they are not there but even trying to compare all 3, by listening one after the other, it is very difficult to quantify and if I only had 1 of the 3, I would still be happy. I was even considering a portable DAC/Amp with battery so that my phone battery wouldn't be drained by some of these demanding dongles. But then I realized, why spend more money if the apple dongle, besides being the smaller and less intrusive one, almost drains no power at all, when compared to the others (especially the RU6).

Maybe it is a blessing that I'm not able to discern such differences that I read here and there, the truth is that, for a portable set I just need an iPhone, an apple dongle and IEM/ cans easy to drive.
Well, iPhone is not external DAC friendly, so everything might be messed by the OS. That explains your all is the same perception, maybe.

Dongles require software tweaks that Apple doesnt seem to bother

I'd have to have a friendly, respectful disagreement on this. I much prefer iPhone/iPad as a source due to the fact that there are no SRC issues via USB connection, unlike Android. The limiting power requirements are obviously an issue with certain dongles (and higher volume levels) unless your DAC is battery powered or tethered to a CCK. These higher drain devices may work on Android but battery life suffers enough to be an issue for some...

I do agree that the Apple dongle sounds decent within it's power limitations.

Yip, works independently with my iPhone and Windows PC.

Do try using usb adaptor especially when with PC instead of cable if not already done so ... no cable cable is better than no cable imho.

More $ but ifi idefender+ to avoid PC usb 5v and whatever 5v lps you have further lifts sound quality

Cheers.
