I listen mostly to flac ripped from CDs over my PC with Benchmark DAC1 as source. Listen mostly to pop music.
Will Stax SRS202 be consider an upgrade from my Denon 5000 in terms of overall clarity, transparency and musical signature?
Hmm, if you want electrostats that are clealy above the D5000 then you'll probably need to look at their higher end models. However, I strongly suggest taking a look at the planars(orthodynamics) like Audeze's LCD2 or Hifiman's HE-6 as they are clearly a notch above the D5000 and at a fraction of the cost of higher-end electrostats.

Ah, I should insert "from what I've read" in my post as I don't personally have experience with electrostats. Perhaps a member of the electrostats community can give the OP(and me) some greater insight?
I did that (LA2000 Lite). Didn't like the results. It did what I needed it to do in reducing the bass, but to my ears, it also killed everything else I loved about the D5k.
If the OP likes the basic sound signature of the D5k but wants an upgrade... the D7k is a no-brainer. (IMHO, of course)
If I were to upgrade my D5000s I'd probably try the Audeze LCD-02 and Beyerdynamic T1.
From what I've read these headphones pair clarity with naturalness and musicality.
I am not interested in a huge and extreme detailed soundstage , like the Sennheiser HD800s and I supspect the Denon D7000s will not offer a true upgrade from the D5000s
Audeze's tonality is described by some as rather dry...I like the fluidity and the 'wholeness' of the Denons very much so probably (again, from what I've read) the Beyer T1s would be the ones for me.
Indeed, the D7000 are a significant improvement over the D5000. That said, for someone who owns the D5000 and is looking for an additional headphone (as opposed to replacing the D5000 outright), I would recommend something else, as the Denons do have their similarities.
