Stock right now, I want to get a handle on their sound with the factory cable.  After I get them sufficiently run in and have listened to them quite a bit, I'll re-cable them.

What I would like to know is, after a Ed. 10 is accepted as settled in, how it compares head on head to the R10. Yep, that is what I would like to know.

Once I get back my repaired pair from Craig this time with the correct earpads, I can find out.  I'm curious myself, however, bear in mind that my Ed10 is recabled and I expect to be seriously impressed even against the bass-heavy R10 I have.

Not exhibiting any of the maladies others have mentioned/noticed (at least when driven by a WA22, a Zana Deux, a Equilebrato, an Orb Jade 2, or any of the other amps I have on hand);plus Ultrasone confirmed that my set has the "fixed" pads.

No worries here. I'll check my serial number when I get a chance to get over to my office.  Not sure how Ultrasone knows, the problem must be confined to a certain range of serial numbers?
