Perhaps they come soaked in snake oil for increased dynamics, expanded soundstage, tighter bass and smooth highs.

Wow...I envy those who can lay out that kind of money for one headphone. Having said that...why not? I have a watch collection, and some of them retail for the same if not more.
My wife had no problem buying me watches for special occasions... maybe I should start suggesting phones instead. Hmmmm.

There are so many people in this world with more money than sense...and us marketers out there have a duty to take it from them! And it seems like the audio industry is about 99% marketing people and 1% engineers. Maybe I should start looking for a job there. Or start my own cable company.

I consider myself having more money then sense having just ordered a $700 amp, and planning on getting a $950 headphone once I get through the wait list. Even that was "justified" by "I like most of what they do, but..."

...Even then, I don't think that I could ever "justify" something that costs this much. Though, this is in the ballpark range of the higher-end STAX headphones (which I also could never justify), so it isn't exactly unprecedented.

Does this have more than a year's warranty?

The Edition 9 offered 5 years warranty so I would expect the same for the Edtion 10.

I agree about the look, I think it looks awful. At least make the earpads the same color brown as the wood. Why didn't they just make it all metal, that would have looked much better IMO

Wow, they're ugly. F.U.G.L.Y. And ostentatious. Same headband as the Edition 8 though, which is a bit better than the generic OEM stuff Ultrasone usually use.

Hope they sound a bit better than the HFI-780... something the Edition 8 didn't really do.

Agreed, these are reminiscent of the gold plated headphones that were on ebay a while ago. They look ridiculous, and too much has been spent on making them over the top luxurious.
