This thread reminds me of the first posts about the HD-800. Way too expensive... can't be worth that much... then Head-Fi members bought them by the hundreds.

1.There's wast difference between 1400 and 2800 in headphone currency. For that difference you can get very nice amp, dac, another pair of great headphones or all together.
2. HD800 were not pimped as "luxurious", they simply are high-end headphones for serious enthusiasts
3. That what Senn, this is Ultrasone.

Not to mention, those abominations even make the plastic-fantastic HD800 look good.

There are a few people from here that have pre-ordered it so we will have to wait and see.

Won't have to wait and see. I can "hear" it now:

- way better than the HD800, LCD-2 or T1
- captures "reality" better than any other headphone I've ever heard
-  biggest soundstage I've ever heard
 - bass goes down to DC
-makes my head vibrate along to the dynamics

Wow the fangs are coming out. Nobody knows how they sound, so IMO a lot of it is a reaction to the price. At least a few hundred for the box and stand, but these had better be the best dynamic since the R10 or they will be a joke. If they live up to the hype and price tag though, they will be the stuff of legend instead. I think they look much better than my HD800 BTW, YMMV.

But I wouldn't wear either of them in public

Would you wear the HD800s in public?

Haha! That'll be a tall order! Just heard the LCD-2s this weekend. Awesome bass, kind of unreal actually!

Loved 'em.
