:D I said almost exactly the same thing in the TF10 thread the other day...TF10 drivers plus the UE900 mid driver, in the UE900 form factor...*drool*

...too bad the new UE is targeting consumers>audiophiles/hobbyists these days, meaning it'll never happen.

Gotta say, I was hoping the whole Logitech/UE thing would improve when a Head-Fier got involved, but its apparently only gone downhill; a real shame.
Shi* can the whole concept and incorporate the best traits and ergonomics of TF10 and UE900 and come out with a quad driver TF11Pro and charge $449.

They would sell a ton of them

I have had my UE 900 IEMs for about a year now and really like them but the lack of lower-end punch is really just starting to irk me.  I have tried 3 different tips, both the rubber and 2 different set of Comply foam tips.  Even with a good seal, I just don't get much bass extension with these.

Can anyone recommend another IEM that delivers the great mid and high quality of the UE 900 but has a more "fun" sound with some nice deep bass extension? Something I can find at a brick and mortar store is MUCH preferred as I like having the comfort of knowing I can return them if I don't like the sound signature.

Thanks everyone.

I'm sure there are many options and I had UE900, W4 and W40 and the Westone's certainly offer a thicker weightier sound while still providing the same transparency and detail of UE900.  W40 would be a great upgrade IMHO

The UE 900 actually has some nice deep bass extension, but is low in quantity.  A direction to go would be what Spyro recommended, the W4(R)/W40 does offer a thicker sound to it, but it's more low-mid-bass focused which can result in a slight veil at times.  I do prefer the W4's midrange over the 900's though as it's more linear.  The spike at the 10 kHz and rapid drop after kind of killed the W4's treble for me, I felt the UE 900 did better with treble extension in contrast to the W4, the lower treble is better with the W4 though.

Another thing that might be worth looking into is the new NuForce model.  I have yet to hear it, but am still trying to get my hands on it.

As a fan of UE, this is so disappointing it hurts. Maybe a campaign on Reddit and a bunch of negative reviews left on Amazon will get them to straighten up, kind of like Mediatek a short while back (they got banned form Amazon IIRC). I wonder if you guys can contact the BBB because they are technically scamming you by promising a new product and giving you an old one. Perhaps a lawsuit? I don't know, I'm not really sure on how to handle these situations other than the Amazon route. Shame, I was really looking forward to these.

EDIT: This was such a disappointing 200th post. *Sigh* Thanks a lot UE/Logitech, thanks a lot

So after being told that I indeed had a box with the UE 900 in it not the 900s, and being told that there was a chance the the seller I bought from switched out the devices and resealed the box, I asked if Logitech would exchange them directly. Here is the response that I got. It seems a bit promising, yet they still don't seem to want to admit that they have a problem on their hands.

"Thank you for contacting Logitech and for the update. It took us two weeks as we have investigated on this issue. We have carefully tried to figure out if we have just missed on this issue and if we need to recall the devices. However, we have found out with the help of our products specialist and warehouse people that the fault is not from our end. Your initial concern was if you have received a wrong item and we have found out that you did. However, we feel for you and we understand your frustration. We are willing to consider this and we will request for an approval. Kindly provide us the copy of your receipt in jpg or pdf format and attach it in your response.

Sincerely,

Raymund

I finally got a response on my end, same request for the proof of purchase:

"In order for us to continue with the warranty replacement, we would need the actual proof of purchase for the device (screen shot). We would like you to send the proof of purchase as an image/picture attachment to your response to this email. Preferably in JPEG format. We would need this to continue with the process."

This was without asking as much as you had, so it looks like you have finally convinced them to do the right thing across the board.

Everyone with the 900 in 900s box issue should contact support-enu@ultimateears.com to start your replacement process.

To me it's really amazing how at first they said they are the same, then they said maybe the dealer did the old switcharoo. Now they are saying they will look into that. Which means that the dealer in HK who had the 900 as the 900s in the store was under the impression that he was letting people test the 900s. Horrible customer service. In fact the 900 sounded different just because the pinhole bore wasn't clogged as they were fairy new.

I appear to have gotten to the bottom of things. For now all I can say is that I have been assured that what we received are indeed the 900s as currently constituted. I'm waiting to hear back from the person who I talked to at Logitech to make sure I can share the exact contents of the email he sent me.

Edit: Give me a couple of hours and I should have the ok to provide some more info.

What I can tell you is that someone who knows what has been going on with the UE 900s has told me that Logitech knows that there is a lot of confusion, and they are going to make things more clear supposedly by tomorrow. I have been told a few things that clear up a lot of what has been happening, but I have been told to wait as they (Logitech) say they would like to clear up some things first.

What's the worst that can happen? Not to get into corporatism but why not just spill the beans, they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

That way maybe next time they will not jerk their consumers around and actually improve instead of focusing on the bottom line.

Normally I'd agree with you, but this was someone at Logitech that actually tracked me down to try and solve my concerns. I asked if it would be ok for me to share the info that he gave me with other UE 900s customers and was asked if I would let them address the confusion themselves, and that it would be by tomorrow. I thought that was a fair request as this person did more to address the questions I had in 2 hours than customer support did in 2 and a half weeks.
