If the option is available, I would opt for 6 drivers. However I'm not sure if UM does upgrades on 1964 Ears. All I see on the custom-iem site is TF10, SE530, W3/UM3X, LW3. You may want to ask.
Though.. It may be a costly venture, so whatever you can afford may be a better choice. You could always use the extra money for a dac/amp.
However... If it were me, I'd hate to say it in your case, but I think it would be cheaper/better if you sell the used Quad and try to recuperate whatever you paid for it, and buy a new quad or other custom iem directly from the company itself.
