I’d like to posit something and get your respective thoughts. I’m getting good results using TRN’s new “Jaws” with an upgraded mod cable through the balanced out, along with some EQ to augment bass. Is it fair to evaluate any IEM with these caveats or do you feel opinions should be based on no augmentation at all, just the standards being neutral?

I usually enjoy my neutral with bass boosted iems, and also put some bass in the eq, especially sub-bass presence, but i also can enjoy some different tunings, not so harmanish because i love my sub-mids, but anyway, is ok if you evaluate it stock and later add the eq "fixing" you putted in it.
This is a very polarizing IEM. As Tone Deaf Monk sagely noted, there will be many supporters of this unique configuration of drivers, but it's an acquired taste. I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but paired with a specific DAP through the balanced out, I'm getting an excellent and detailed response.
There's a review of the Jaws in reddit... https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/s/TQeMrg39I7
But we need more reviews! He says the soundstage is average for the price and the strong of the iem is the technicalities (the "too much information " from the Monk in his impressions).

Listening to the immense and spatial detailed orchestrations of movie soundtracks using JAWs is quite remarkable... and that includes the soundtrack to "Jaws".

Quick n dirty first impressions: They're bright..duh. 8kHz peak is real, not IEC-711 resonance. Sparkly treble. Very good technicalities. The 2kHz bump isn't too bad on these - snares are forward, but not as bad as on planars. They got the right drivers in all the right places. Bass performance is very good. Definitely basshead material with EQ. Excellent separation and layering - this is the highlight of these.
It's like the TRN White Tiger and 7Hz Aurora had a baby. These are really good, but needs EQ to drop the upper mids and treble down some. Best implementation of the 6mm planar I've heard yet. I'll do a better review later on when I put some more hours on these. But yeah, initial impressions are these are detail monsters that are hindered by bright tuning.
I like how this could be a polarizing IEM and the dearth of reviews compelled everyone to react with unbiased opinions. With a low cost DAP like the FiiO JM21, that features a powerful balanced output, these mid-priced but premium (for TRN) IEMs perform above their paygrade.
Yesterday I received the Jaws and my first impressions goes:
I'm gladfully differ from the opinions of @ToneDeafMonk, I'm loving this set, putting on pair with my Sm4, maybe is less bassy (but not lacking at all the sub and mid bass i love), is a microdetails and overall technicalities beast, is maybe not a very high volumes set but i can crank the knob to a high number without feeling the need to adjust it because spicy tracks, maybe they did what usually do when launching a product: Fix the tuning at the last hour before they mess their sales (like in the Conch).
I liked a lot the stock packaging, the included eartips are more than enough (especially the trn t eartips), the included dongle doesn't have the conexant chip they sell in the other dongle (cx31993), but sounds kind of warm but with a totally natural timbre.
The cable is very sturdy and well builded, the only thing I'm missing is a 4.4 mm balanced option (but i can fix that with my tools and some 4.4mm plugs i bought for upgrading a lot of my cables).
The shells are very well builded, not weighty at all, very comfortable in the ears, the nozzle is not tiny, but with the trn t eartips i can make a perfect seal, thankfully not fatiguing at all in long listening sessions.
