Okay, just kidding. I am using the tips that were attached to them in the box. I have been using IEMs for years so I know what a good fit sounds like. I have a good fit. Lots of bottom, lots and lots of bottom. Mids, where are the mids? Mids seem pretty recessed. The highs seem fine. I've spent a week with my 535s, and a few hours with the TF10s. So far I'd have to say the 535s are a lot more fun to listen to. A lot more. Not to say the TF10s are bad, I'm just not enjoying the sound as much. But I'm still listening. I think if I had to say what the big difference is between the two I'd say it's "presence". Listening to Elvis Costello (This Years model) Elvis is right up front and prominent with the Shures. With the TF10s he's in the room, a bit away from where I am and I might just ignore him if he stays there. Pop the Shures back on and he's hard to ignore, right in front of me. The Shure 535s are more involving to me. The TF10s are pleasant, but not as interesting.
 
My wife tried them out and while she feels they are way higher quality than she thinks she needs or can fully appreciate, she will accept them as a Christmas present. Fun.
 
Unfortunately I bought two pairs of them. Worse things could happen. What does it cost to turn these into customs?
 
I don't understand why someone would want to swap them and use them backwards for more comfort. I'd be interested to see a picture of how you have put them in before and after the switch. My ear canals are small but I'm having no trouble getting a nice fit.

 

does the price include getting them fitted. They also have a cable replacement which is probably something that should get done on the TF10. After the holidays I think I may get it done

From reading this, I think that you like the gorgeous forward mids the shuers are famous for.
As for customs..I believe fisher does remolding for $80 and Um does it for $150 ($247 i believe if you want to add in a mid driver) feel free to correct me anyone.

I'm assuming ear impressions is what you meant by getting fitted, if so you have to find a local audiologist to get impressions which are cheap to get done, well where i live anyway. It only cost me 30 bucks to get impressions done which once you get them you will need to ship the impressions with your Trip's. By the time its all said and done between the impressions , the reshelling and shipping without art work about 130 bucks with artwork i believe 150 with artwork and cable replacement , well that would depend on the cable chosen. IMO if you got your Trip's during the sale for 95 bucks i wouldn't hesitate to get them reshelled. If you paid retail for them, I would sell them to fund for an entry level custom like the Jh5 , 1964 or an earsonics entry model. I feel the biggest benefit of the reshell is the fit and isolation. Due to the fit and isolation from customizing them you should get the full potential of the Trip's. I was going to get customs recently but decided to get my first pair of can's instead, so intern by not buying both ( can's and customs) I'm probably gonna spend the money on getting my Sm3's done by Inearz. Never have to worry about buying tips again.

Thanks Guid for the good information. i did get them on the 95.00 deal and do really like them. I believe I will end up getting the custom Ie done as I really would like a perfect fit. And the cable really should be replaced.

No problem friend, theirs a few good cables to choose from, but they can get pricey. If your looking to save some money and get a good cable I'm sure if you post an ad in the classifieds section that your WTB one. You should be in great shape. I know the LUNE cable comes highly recommended also the westone cable. Inearz has them but i havent read that many good ratings on them, in fact the SQ of the  stock cable was preferred from what I've read.

Interesting Frank.  I wish I had the same impression after 3 days of listening.  Perhaps I need to hear another pair.  Then again not really a place for them in my inventory anyhow but some of the overly positive impressions are just foreign to me.  Could just be the ears.  Its a solid 8/10 give or take depending on what you are looking for from a phone.  Also have a look as to some potential pitfalls of doing the reshell.  I would definitely be hands on w/ Fisher as to placement of the drivers, single or dual bores, countersunk cable plugs, etc, etc.  I'm glad you like them that much which makes them a steal for you.

I was never one for IEM as I always preferred a portable headphone but I have the Shure 110 but the TF10 is so much better and is balanced and toward the warm side which I like in headphones also. it really impressed me and for what I will use them for which is only ipod use they are great. What is it you do not like about them if I may ask.

Granted coming from those Shures I'd understand.  I have yet to hear any Shure IEM or Headphone that's a keeper for me.  Though the 840 and 530 have commendable technical proficiencies.  Just not my sound.  I'd like to hear a 440 though out of curiousity.

i read your post and maybe you might want to listen to another pair to see if there was a defect because I hear no extended decay in any recording I have listened to and will check out the Rush albums tomorrow with them. Sometimes different strokes for different folks. For me these are keepers especially for the price.

None of the silicon tips will stay in. I'll take Comply tips that expand better and isolate better than the ones that came with it though. They do stay in and they are fairly comfortable. Are the black Complys better isolating? If not, should I go with the hybrids?

Are these your first IEMs?
 
IEMs are a very weird physical concept that feels unnatural when you first start using them.  Fitment should be relatively gentle.  You aren't really trying to shove these deep in your ear.  The goal is to NOT harm your ears.
 
The silicon tips are not great.  Comply tips are much nicer to work with.  The newer Triple.Fi 10 earphones come with Comply tips stock now.

Am I the only one who hears a difference with the flip mode? 
with normal use I have a wider left to right soundstage, but whole image is shallower and feel like sitting in front row. 
with flip mod, imaging is more infront and get better depth, like sitting a few rows back. 
 
I suspect this is because of the shape of the nozzles (and my ear), with normal use the nozzle is curving outwards when placed in ear whereas with the flip mod the nozzle is curving towards inside...
haven't played long enough to make a decision but so far I think I prefer the flip mod as I get better depth...but do like how wide the soundstage is left to right with normal use...

I do have slight ache from time to time on my right ear from diving last 2 days so not listening much to tf10 and giving it a rest. so that might be one possible explanation..

I think you summed it up pretty good. I think it has to do with reversing the bores , at the end of the TF10 you will see 2 little holes,Highs and Lows. when you switch them in your ears you change the bore position which i believe your sending the highend of the spectrum inward thus getting a narrow sound sig, instead of outward as intended in the design of the TF10 un-flipped. Thats the conclusion or theory i came up with when i had them.

 I dunno it just seems logical. For instance take a home speaker and turn it upside down. Does the sound change? I would think so. As you change the path of frequencies.
