Yes they were. They did have their new funky D7100 on demo however after spending a long time lining up to demo the Sennheiser HD700s I was too pooped to try the Denons.

Thank you all for a wonderful Friday and Saturday. It was really fun meeting up with all of you again and big thanks to Currawong & Arnaud for lugging all your gear. A big thanks to onizukajp for taking pix with his D3S. I really don't want to know how heavy all your photo gear is!!

Sorry to thread jack, but I was wondering if any Japanese head-fiers might be willing to help me out. There's some only in Japan cables I'm looking to get forwarded to Canada. If you are willing, please give me a PM. Thanks and sorry again for the derail

Well don't just post that and tease. What cables are they?

Me (taken by I don't remember who when I put my camera down for a minute) with Anakachan to the right talking to Ken at ALO. I like the picture of the model better.

From the angle, my guess it's Bob/CEntrance that took this pix. No doubt about Sakai-san, she stood out above all else.

The event: It was my first time there but it was great to spend time with fellow Head-Fiers talking about audio equipment. The show allowed the consumers to interface with the designers of many of the wonderful audio equipment manufacturers out there.

==Test parameters==
Genre of music: Hip-Hop, Hawaiian Reggae, Reggae, Classical, Country, Rock, Classical ukulele

Listening level: Low to medium

Test rig:
iPhone 4
iPhone 4 – CLAS – ALO Rx Mk3

ALO Audio:
Rx Mk3: Thanks to Ken and ALO audio again for letting us test this little wonder in our room. All I can say is WOW! I could hear more details in my music. I tested with various genres of music Hip-Hop, Hawaiian Reggae, Reggae, Classical, Country, Rock etc. When it came to the stringed instruments like those apparent in Country and Hawaiian Reggae I could literally hear the individual strings as they were strummed. Burddah Iz never sounded so good coming out of CLAS and Rx Mk3 combo. With Hip-Hop and some other deep bass types of music it was nice. The bass was nice and tight and punchy; it helps to have a nice set of headphones. I liked the synergy between the setup and the Ultrasone Signature Pros. Even without some higher end headphones though, music sounded great through my little Shure 535s. This was tested in single ended mode. I wish I had the time to test in balanced mode.

This is definitely going on my shopping list when the silver one comes out at the end of June.

Ultrasone:
We were fortunate enough to have the Ultrasone Signature Pros for several hours to test, basically the whole day. These were well balanced headphones that were suitable for a wide range of music. I felt that these sounded better than the higher end Ed8s. It all comes down to what type of music you listen to and for a majority of my music in my reference playlist it sounded great. I was very impressed by the bass coming out of these headphones, they were just right. The padding on these headphones were soft and very comfortable, not sure for how long I can actually wear them but padding was sufficient at least for a 30 minute session, then I had to give the other members a chance to test these out. Since they cover your ears these headphones would be quite hot during the summer, but for winter a perfect blend of ear muffs and quality sound. Before listening to the Signature Pros I was pondering the Ultrasone Pro 900 or 2900 but now I know what I want for Christmas. The form factor was also a key part of me liking these very much. The Pro series and HFI series while looking nice still looked big, and on my tiny little head they would look enormous. The Signature Pros were perfect in size. Style and function is important to me.

The Signature Pros made it to my shopping list.

Venturecraft:
Venturecraft is coming out with a white version of their Go-DAP 4.0 but even better is the new Go-DAP X. For iPhone users the Go-DAP 4.0 looks to be a reasonable alternative for an all in one model. There is already an extensive thread on this model so won’t comment any further. For the Go-DAP X they showcased a leather case that would fit both and iPhone and the Go-DAP X. What I like most about the idea is that it is also a PC DAC so I can use the same unit on a laptop or home PC. I wonder if they will make customization available like they do for the Go-DAP 4.0. There is a thread going already in Head-Fi for the Go-DAP X so I won’t go into further details, but I am looking forward to testing this unit out more when it becomes available.

Anybody want to share their impressions of the Senns HD700s?

May 14, 2012 at 8:04 AM Post #28 of 53
Actually I did line up for about 20-30 mins to listen to them. As they're open and it is a crowded room, it really wasn't a fair test. I did crank up the volume, played it off my DX100 and for some reason, I just wasn't impressed. Honestly now, I can't state why I wasn't, and I did listen to a few different genre of tracks. All I can remember was that I didn't know how this could be considered as the HD800's little brother. Maybe from reading in Head-Fi, I somehow got into my head that it was meant to be a more budgeted version of the HD800 and expected something like the HD800 and it didn't meet my expectations.

Probably warrants a more thorough and isolated test.

Build-wise, it's light. To me, feels like mostly a polycarbonate-type build.

Should have lined up for the Denon D7100 queue instead (same room, next table) as I had less expectations for that - maybe could have been a surprise.

Moving down the hill, faster and faster.........I never read a single post since 3 days , which made me positive about them, well back to the thinking chair!

An excellent event as always, can easily go for two days and I hope they consider this one day. It was great meeting new head-fiers and also seeing some familiar faces as well!

Big thank you to all the head-fiers bringing out their gear and making this event that much more special.

Picked up an OJI Special(http://www.ojispecial.jp/) modded Ray Samuels P51 Mustang, I will let it burn in before posting some thoughts on it.

AnakChan: You have sold me on the SR-009, they are truly wonderful and look forward to getting one in the near future.
