ThieAudio Monarch MKII Experience

All very subjective! Pretty - in my country we say: regarding taste and color there are no friends. Too big - they fit perfectly in my years, better than SA6 og/ultra/mk2. Mest - I have the OG (which I find better in technicalities than Mest v2) but it is fully different replay: it is not reference but fun and yes soundstage is slightly larger than that od MMk2 but sometimes gets chaotic.
So true about taste, esp. by looking at how low Mest is on Crinacle rating spreadsheet. Granted even if authoritative, it's just one man opinion, Precog for instance did not like Monarch MKII at all.

Well, if you open both you will know that Monarch MkII was fullfilled with lot of residue here and there, some blocking the tube ends that enough to alter the sound intended too (I already clear up mine), and the prints, material outside and inside. Mest otherwise seems have more professional build quality although both are Chifi.
I don't really care about shell though just because I was comparing both so I just wrote them up in case somebody care about this section.
How do you clean it, that cover is it easily removable, do you need to reglue it afterwards?
Thanks

I assume the mk3's are the same size as the mk2's?
MK3 is significantly bigger (pictured on left). Probably should have noted the size in the review. I'm just used to giant 10+ driver IEMs lately...

We just dropped our take on the Monarch MK3 over at Bloom - https://bloomaudio.com/blogs/articles/bass-fit-for-a-king-monarch-mkiii-review

I'll try to answer any questions that pop up on the MK3. I currently have the MK3 and MK2 on my desk, along with some A&K and iBasso DAPs.

Thank you for the impressions. Interesting that they've moved into "basshead" territory. Also, it's interesting that they are bigger than MK2 despite a lot of people having fit issues with MK2 due to its size. I'm assuming they must've improved the ergonomics of MK3 to help alleviate this.

There are a lot of differences in the general shape and in the angle of the nozzle. I'm probably among the type 5 worst people to offer feedback on the size/shape/comfort, but taking an informal survey around the room, everyone noticed that it was slightly bigger than the original but thought the comfort and fit was about the same.

1. Just uplift the nozzle grill to open it, put on some sticker base or any clean surface

2. See if there are any residue that blocking the tubes, pick them up with needle or safety pin gently

3. Put on back the grill with leftover residue and push gently around the side of the nozzle with safety pin (I used watch strap opener tool). It should stick back
But best if you have grill spares, they are dirt cheap.

Wow the MkII is already very big to me and hurting my inner concha after long session. This worth noting. Thanks

overall upgarde than monarch mkii??
Overall... different from MKII. Personally, I'd take MK3 for the improved technical aspects and I LOVE the bass on it. I'd say MK3 is better for hip-hop/pop/EDM, and most mainstream music mastered in the last ~20 years. MK2 is still preferable on jazz, classic rock, and probably classical. I loved MK3 on like Hans Zimmer or Robert Bergerson type stuff, but more traditional classical is better on MK2.
