Still, I prefer stock foam tip(Comply 500) for my Kr5~
I think Fir frontier IEMs could be tuned in many different ways.. Using different cables and eartips..With stock foam tip, it can be (kinetic) bass focused, musical, floor speaker-like. Loses some detail. But this is my favorite set-up. I feel IEM just disappears!
With silicon tips(like W1), Fir frontiers can also be balanced, with vivid fluid vocal and stunning details. Unique kinetic bass will be decreased in this way.![]()

Thank you for replying @Rockwell75! I won't be at CanJam NYC. I will most likely be at CanJam SoCal and CanJam Dallas this year. That blue and gold looks regal.. Which cable is that?
Eletech Victoria...and it sounds even better than it looks

I'd keep the dx300, not a ton of upgrades over that. The dx320 hasn't upgraded over it significantly - it's just different. Someone else will have to weigh in on the 3-4k recessed treble IEMs. In the 1-3k range, avoid the Mezzo, it has excellent treble with that switch on, maybe it'd be fine with the switch off - haven't tested that significantly. The Thunder would be right up your alley. Maybe the VE8. I don't love harsh treble either and the Thunder is fantastic.Thank you for replying @Wolfhawk46! The max I'm willing to spend is $3500 - $4000 for an IEM. And about $1500 - $2500 on a DAP.. Mind you there is nothing wrong with my DX300.. I've considered purchasing Amp 14 and a new IEM and calling it a day as well.
I've never had an opportunity to listen to the Bird or the XE6. I tried the Viking Ragnar at CanJam SoCal 2022 and that was not my cup of tea.. The treble on the Ragnar seemed excessively hot at the time. I just remembered trying to get a feel for it but after 15 minutes I knew it wasn't for me. It's a bit of a shame too. I thought it a work of art from its outward appearance. Unfortunately, in that moment the sound did not match the looks.
Give me leeway on describing my preferred sound signature. I would say I like clarity with a touch of warmth. I enjoy bass but not when it bleeds into the mids. I do have a little sensitivity to treble but I do like a bit of sparkle. When I notice sibilance with plosives, hi hats, and cymbals crashing on songs from different genres, it kills any kind of desire to listen for any length of time.
I love the W1s also, they're greatThank you for replying @main character! I recently got back into IEMs and Azla's are definitely the most comfortable silicon eartips I have ever used. Love the earfit light short and Xelastecs. I just ordered the Crystals. Going to place an order for the Azla Max. I appreciate the suggestion!
@Wolfhawk46 I remembered trying the Mezzo but I'm not certain what switches were enabled at the time. I liked it at the show. I'd probably keep that in consideration. Bars! I still factor the suggestions of others into the process as it helps with research. Most of my purchases in my signature weren't blind buys. I learned this expensive lesson after my first full year of being a member of Head-Fi.ChatGPT kickig facts:

Yeah, you mentioned that. I'd label the thunder as less fatiguing highs than a lot of higher end IEMs. It's currently my #1, though the Kublai Khan gets here tomorrow.@Wolfhawk46 I remembered trying the Mezzo but I'm not certain what switches were enabled at the time. Definitely recommend Thunder if you prefer less energy up top - absolutely one of the best all rounder IEMs I’ve heard, and not a crazy price relatively speaking.
You might like the HBB Kai thenI'm a sucker for blue and gold.
Are you going to CanJam NYC by any chance?
