This reminds me that I see a lot less music genre elitism on headfi these days compared to when I started. I remember when I first joined I’d more often see posters saying something along the lines of “if it’s not classical or jazz then it’s not real music” directed at other users.

Anyhow, back to my party music 🤘

This thread is different I feel than some others as far as being accepting of different music tastes go, it’s why I like visiting this thread. When I posted my “test tracks” to show why I wasn’t a fan of the Legend Evo in the EE thread, I got told my music choice was the reason why I was hearing what I was hearing. What a fun time that was 🤭

As a homemade burger aficionado, I am quite difficult to satisfy when eating one in a restaurant. Fortunately, today was an exception. I easily rank this delicious Wagyu Beef burger as one of the best in my young life. Perfectly grilled with premium ingredients.

In this case it is because Subtonic is asking for summit tier pricing for their first product (under that name). Would I order blind from Empire Ears? Yes because they have a proven track record.
I think you’ve missed my point. My point about absolute cost being "still a hurdle; if you cannot afford it, you cannot afford, regardless of the justification!" is in response to your:
Lots of great info 👍. If it takes 2 man days to assemble 1 unit that makes the price a little easier to digest. Lets put an hourly value of 50 USD per hour thats 50 x 2 x 8 = $800 + the cost of drivers / cable & 2 years of R&D.
It is not in reference to your comment about summit-fi. And god forbid, I am certainly not at all suggesting you or anyone should buy ANYTHING blind.

Would love to hear Storm, though I think Jewell is the lesser IEM to Traillii, there are issues for me with Jewell mostly aesthetic and design, and sound wise hard to explain, I just prefer Traillii. If all Storm is - is a better Traillii I doubt I would buy one, it would not change anything for me. Now if it turns out to make a sound that nothing else does and inspire me to listen to more music that would make a difference.
Preferences. No need to explain. Not to meantion we all hear things differently too. Quite freaky how I could be playing the same track off the same gear and someone I know very well hearing it differently than I do.

Of course it is about the music, but let me posit something here. We all have our favorite tracks, and we listen to them on our own gear, and when we go demo other gear, listen to those same tracks, probably hoping we'd hear something we've not heard or somehow they are magically raised a notch or two up. If so, we buy the gear, go home and enjoy many hours of listening to it.

So.

Is it about the music or the sound?

We've heard the music many times over, yet we buy gear that renders the same music in better sound.

Just a thought... perhaps it is the music that makes us listen in the first place, but ultimately, it is the sound that drives us to the pursuit of gear.

Perseus. A copper TOTL cable from Satin Audio. A little bit stiffer than a 4 wire PWA cable. ($699.00)

Haha, Сrinaсle graphics again.
I understood everything, I say nothing more.
His graphics have done a lot more for my wallet than most reviews I've read:

- it's hard to find a review here or anywhere else that honestly says something is wrong. Most reviews on head-fi are 4 stars and up

- a review will always be linked to the personal taste of the reviewer. As much as he tries to avoid it, it will always affect

- I don't like an IEM that can be technically very good but its tonality doesn't tell me anything. And it has happened to me with many supposedly very good IEMs (U12t, Solaris, Z1R...).

In any case, I understand that for you the Tia Trio, which is why I asked in the first place, is not worth it, and it is much worse than other much more expensive current TOTLs.

Hey Guys!

Back after around 1 week, took me 2 days to catch up with the 50+ pages that I’ve missed 🤦🏻‍♂️

Enjoying some holidays in Greece, near Athens where the weather is very OK but there were unfortunately - like every summer - some fires not so far. You can see here after the smoke and ashes cloud 😕

Must be a sign, I ran into Orpheus street 😄

Still enjoying daily after 8 months by TZ700 🎼 !
Here with WM1ZM2 and the new Patina case from Dignis.

Before leaving for Greece I had a chance to demo a pair of Custom Art FIBAE 7 Unlimited 😊

I liked the FIBAE7 Unlimited very much! I think it’s one of the best pair of IEM in this price bracket.

Design, build quality and comfort are top notch!

Clairity, separation and soundstage are very good.
Timbre was very good, everything was balanced all over the spectrum, no too bright.
Voices are OK even if sometimes I found them a little bit recessed.
It was also lacking some bass even if I’m not a bass head but I think that I didn’t give the pair enough brain in time as I’ve been listening for 8 months now to the TZ700 which is DD.
I listened to it on my WM1ZM2 with high gain, on both 3.5mm with the copper stock cable (Null Audio Arete) and on balanced with a PW Orpheus.
I used Azla Xelastec ear tips, fit, seal and comfort were perfect.
On the balanced output I found the pair to be “technical” and less technical and more fun and musical on the unbalanced output. They were less fatiguing, maybe because less focus on the details.

His graphs aren't accurate FYI, especially from the treble onwards.
If you've seen the real graphs of the Annihilator vs Crin's graph many people would be judging the Annihilator harshly
