Multiple head-fi threads on tinnitus will pop up from a site search, and note that for many it NOT a barrier to deeply satisfying musical enjoyment. Re. my own tinnitus of several years duration, it has remained stable w/o progression. I generally favor open-back / over-ear headphones but mix in some IEM listening. Maintaining low to moderate listening volumes, good general health and for me, meditation (by which one can learn not to fixate or overly engage with thoughts or sensations that detract from well-being) can be helpful.
