I did my part! It's the weekend before!
Picking them up at CanJam Singapore would have saved $109.91 in delivery and customs fees!
Sorry, I don't want to sound ungrateful but one week before Hari Raya holiday is when my workplace quite busy
The good news is my wife already give me her blessings to go to Canjam SG, but I don't know is she able to go with me or will help his mom on the shop. If she's not going with me then I'll go by myself. Being selfish once in a while is fine yeah?
Funny thing is my wife asking me is it a must for me to go there for 2 days straight. Yeah, she definitely don't know we need to queue to try the stuff and there's so many good things there so even 2 days is not enough for me. She has no intenton to join me go to Canjam so I said to her have fun by yourself, but she said she is unable to strolling around the mall alone and need me to accompany her
But I'm positive I can go to Canjam SG next year. Can't wait to meet you guys there. I hope you guys can see me there too because I'm pocket size (only 161cm tall)
its not how many digits for us frequent posters here. But more like how fast it took us to get there.
There a lot of folks I've watched hit what I've spent over 6 years in under 2.
IIRC I start this hobby just before I married my wife so it's around 4 years or so and I think it's still around 5 digits... or maybe it's already 6 digits I don't know
@warrenpchi Why you do this to me bro
I only have this unit on hand for a few week so it's limited to a few select participants in Canada unfortunately.
I received the package at lunch and had to endure an agonizing ~4 hour wait until I could deke out of work sufficiently early to get my ears on these, which I've been enjoying through the last couple hours through the RS8.
A few thoughts...
On the whole I think Fei Wan is a pretty awesome IEM. Technically it is exceptional, and often mind blowing...particularly with the resolution, layering, imaging and overall vivid holographic defininition of the instruments and vocals within a fairly immense and deep stage. That said with any IEM that goes for any sort of flavor like this one does it will be made or broken for you depending on how you jive with the tuning...and for me it's a little hit or miss so far. To my ears it is a fundamentally mid-centric set with a decent dose of bombastic energy in the highs and lows, with an emphasis on sub-bass and upper mids/lower treble. By "mid centric" I mean just that while listening most of my attention and focus is drawn towards and within the midrange...with a sliight tilt towards the upper mids. Female vocals are pushed more forward than male vocals but I have not yet heard any hint of shout or anything like that. Tonally Fei Wan reminds me a little of a jazzed up and more frenetic Maestro SE and as with that IEM (though not to the same extent) I find myself wanting just a touch more mid-bass oomph and body in the lower mids...though where Maestro SE for me is more of a specialist in with its tuning for this reason Fei Wan is a little more versatile for me in this respect. Bear in mind that this is just a personal tonal preference and could be a function of my degenerate tastes more than anything. When I heard Fei Wan in CanJam through the LP6 I found it a little too energetic up top at times so I was really curious if I was going to have that issue again here with the RS8. Unfortunately I don't remember what tracks I used in SoCal and listened to a half dozen or so with no real issue...and then NIN's March of the Pigs came on and damn near fried my brain...so yes I think it's fair to say that there can be a lot energy up top but whether or not it is a problem for you will be highly dependent on library and on your individual sensitivities. So far it hasn't cropped up as an issue as much as I thought it might. I'll have more to say here after some more listening. All in all I am really enjoying the Fei Wan so far.
Thank you for your impressions on Fei Wan. Mine is still on the way and if you feel that way using just the stock cable then I'm positive it will sounds great with proper aftermarket cable
I'm not sure we've ever done a survey like this before, but...top 10 desert island albums. Compliations and greatest hits albums are admissable.
Here's mine with no particular order :
- CASIOPEA - Mint Jams
- CASIOPEA - Casiopea Live (Live at The Ryogoku Kokugikan Tokyo, April 1985)
- Dan Terminus - The Wrath of Code
- Fourplay - The Best of Fourplay (2020 Remastered)
- GUNSHIP - Dark All Day
- Hans Zimmer - LIVE
- Hello Meteor - The Glowing Final Cut
- Perturbator - I Am The Night (Remaster)
- Purity Rings - Another Eternity
- Purity Rings - WOMB
Oh yes, team flex here! Makes it so easy to tip roll the Legend X when I get that satisfying crincle conformation with a good fit.
@Rockwell75 I'll give the desert island albums a think and post my selection later... I'll be surprised if we get any outright favourites with this poll.
So it is normal for every IEM with DD in it? I just notice there's a driver flex too on my Jewel recently, so it seems I didn't get a proper seal before
