u12t with the bassiest module? I'm going to keep trying...because I have nothing else to do haha.
For me personally absolutely, No. I liked U12t for everything but the bass as it doesn't sound like the kind of bass I'm familiar with. It can go low enough and even have enough impact with the help of a good source and cable plus a bit of imagination, but the timbre is still like you hit that funky frequency on a keyboard: A bit lifeless. So although it reproduces the frequencies completely correct and with the correct amount you won't be thinking there must be a juicy bass guitar or acoustic bass playing out there. It does have its advantages though, especially if you're listening to fast music where the speed of the bass can be more important than the timbre as you can follow bass lines better. So as always it depends a bit on your library, your reference, and what you're after.

Hmm, it's made tougher by the requirement that it's ALL BA, not just BA bass...VE8 maybe?

For me, No. If I'd have to guess then I'd say an all BA setup with an added BCD is your best chance. Honestly I think you currently won't get better BA bass than with Mentor and a surprising non-BCD candidate Ronin. Those would be my only 2 considerations even though timbre is still not there. But it's offset more than a little bit because of the complete package they offer. Is that enough? For me currently No and I have decided to wait for the Next Gen.

Yeah, but the Mentor and Ronin aren't ALL BA, which is what he said. Otherwise I could bring up the Phonix and a couple others. So the question still remains...best bass on an all BA set? Maybe the VE8...

Checked with the wife, and there’s no conflict with any family plans. Looks like it’ll be a whirlwind CanJam year for me, planning to go to every US based edition, including Dallas and its inaugural event.
YAY!!! Looking forward to seeing you again.
+1 on trying to make ALL domestic CanJams. So far, I am on track

But technically those have DDs.

No they dont. They call them "woofers" however they're not DDs-- they're a special kind of BA implementation. You can read about it here.
