You’re gonna get different answers here just based on preferences. What are you looking for?

The best android DAP I’ve heard is still N8ii but there are people who find it too revealing. Personal preference is going to make the difference.

If you need r2r, then you’re limited to 2 of those.

I would also add N8ii and DX300 Max ti to the list. It all depends on preferences which one is best.

+2 and it also comes own to personal preference. Personally, I have more DAPs than IEMs and they have their own unique flavor and synergies. Don't think of one is absolutely better than the other and have their quirks.

I do have my favorites – N8ii is my go to, followed by M9. RS8 is still burning. They'll be my DAP triad, M17 for headphones, DX312 when I'm on the go and 3MAX has sentimental value and this funky retro chunky "classic" design to let go.

LP isn't on my list since I primarily stream and haven't auditioned SP3K or M2, but both are on my holiday shopping list.

Considering it's a scaled-down C9 with an added "smartphone" and DAC, it's nice that it's smaller than the C9. Noticeably less.

And yet it is too much for comfortable carrying in a pocket. Or am I getting too old...

LPGT (Ti) and Cayin N8-2.
First if you need a reference player, and second - if you need swiss knife player. Few variants of sound, streaming service, etc.

Harking back to @Progisus' poll the other day about what we have in our Astute cases...I wanted to wait until I'd received this M6 Pro from @yaps66 before sharing mine. Just came in this afternoon and I've heard a bit of it so far. I've really missed the Shanling sound...this is a baby M8 to my ears & from memory. Gaea and Annihilator so far sound great...both IEMs but Annihilator in particular really appreciate the extra juice compared to the SR25ii.

I would like to put my vote on the DX300 MAX, it is a good DAC/AMP, but it is not a good DAP-wise.

N8ii is the best DAP overall to me.

Discounting portability (which is a huge factor for me when it comes to actually using a DAP) my favorites that I've heard so far are the WM1ZM2 and Hiby R8 with special shouts to the Shanling M8 for its uniquely compelling sound as well as the original Cayin N8.

This is an unpopular opinion, and of the listed M8 will be an outsider. Vs N8 - any chance.

DMP-Z1 Really just personal preference, but N8ii is probably the "best" all rounder DAP one could ask for.

The M6 Pro that I have is AKM AK4497 x2...the Pro 21 has Sabre as after the fire they couldn't make the Pro any more. I'd be very curious for some direct comparisons between the M6 Pro and the Ultra.
