Very sad today. One of my cats was hit by a car and killed.

Here she is in happier times, and proving that you dare not leave any valuable equipment unattended. 🥲

Very sorry to hear - I've owned and lost a few cats over the years, always very difficult - our pets really are extended members of the family.

My condolences, mate. 'Hope you can find some sort of solace in music and in the community.

But without streaming, you lose all the album artwork, track data and music discovery that streaming has in spades, and you’re spending significantly more money on music. Streaming is an incredibly powerful platform for music that allowed me to discover tons of indie artists that may not have big record deals and visibility that major artists have.
Uhh.. maybe I'm missing something here, but all my purchases/downloads from iTunes, Bandcamp and HD-Tracks have album artwork and track data. They often come with the album booklet as well, which streaming doesn't give you. I get the exposure bit, which is why I mentioned it on my answer to the survey, but I think purchasing the record is that next level of support. Even on iTunes, I feel like I'm severely underpaying. The standard price in Indonesia is around 50 cents per song, which is absolutely ridiculous when you consider how much making this music actually costs: Tens of thousands of dollars (at least) in mics, instruments, pre-amps, mix consoles, outboard gear/plug-ins, software, etc. That's not even mentioning the value of the craft of arranging, songwriting, performing, mixing, mastering, etc.

It's been generally accepted that an artist barely makes money if not for touring and/or show bookings. It's why I personally prefer Bandcamp to purchase my music. It lets me pay however much I want to support the artist, so they can make more of the music that I want to listen to.

Sorry for your loss.
One of our cats passed a couple weeks ago. I had posted a picture of him just a week or so before. He was old and had a heart murmur and one day just stopped. There is a missing presence in the house, one interesting development is our other cat Rosie has now become more friendly and actually sits by my side at night which is what Chipper used to do.

So very sorry for your losses. As a long time dog and kitty parent, it always leaves a void in your heart to lose a furry family member. Each one leaves a unique indelible imprint on your soul, but also leaves beautiful memories of your time together. May they forever frolic in heaven.

With most services you are. I use Qobuz almost exclusively due to their non proprietary hi-res support, purchase store+discounts, and they pay out 5-10x as much as Spotify per stream. You tube is by far the worst offender in taking down artists ability to make any money. The devil incarnate.

You Tube, Spotify, Regular free Amazon, and Apple all tragically underpay for streams and the pay structure is for their benefit, not the artists (shared revenues, etc). Tidal and Qobuz are the best if you care about artist compensation. Not perfect, but the lesser evils.

Best is to own, as mentioned, and to purchase from Bandcamp on commission free Friday's, and while you're at it, buy a tour shirt or something.

If you have to stream, Qobuz, then Tidal, and then the rest. But you should fee slightly bad about it.
Tidal being sold may have made them just as bad though. Not following the twists and turns with the politics of it.

(this comment not to you directly as I know you are aware of the state of things, just in general)

Starting the week-end with a fully-loaded homemade burger before a well-deserved listening session with the Jewel.

It will be a good night🎧

Saw this set from a YT reviewer that I follow... seems like a familiar color/character trio scheme  Except that you get all 3 for $50 or so, lol. I don't think it will compete with the real trio but for giggles lol.

Switzerland, near Zurich😄
Burger looks great. Could pass for a gourmet burger in the USA, except for the wine. We don't drink wine with our burgers.
