The Ultimate HD600 vs HD650 Poll [CLOSED: HD600 Wins!]
Jan 19, 2014 at 3:29 AM Post #46 of 139
Voted for the HD650

It seems I am the only one who find the HD650 little on the bass light and brighter side?
The HD650 doesn't sound dark or 'veiled" to me imho. The bass is really well controleld and the top is crystal clear.

I tested the HD600 in the shop once, and in comparisom it is a bit too bright/bass-light for me

The hd650 has done creditably well in this simple pool...
(given the "veil" bias against it, and the "neutrality"  of the hd600 in the forums, like forever.)
And my experience says the hd650 scales well too.
So dun let this pool stop u from buying/experimenting with the hd650.

and yes the HD650 is THE WINNER ...where is the statistician ???  :p

The statistician is out buying a pair of HD600's.

No reason to close the pole, IMO. New people will come by and new perspectives will be brought. There's already a fair amount of people who have voted. It raises good discussion, if you ask me.

Totally agree with this. If the op closes the poll he basically kills his own thread. Let it open and see where the discussion go. That would be far more interesting if you ask me.

Very interesting results! 55 total preferring the HD600s, 51 total preferring the HD650s, and 10 undecided at the time of this post.

Statistically, the difference is insignificant; people generally like these headphones equally. However, the few people more who voiced preference for the HD600s confirm what we've seen for quite a while now on Head-Fi, which is slightly more [vocal] preference to the 600s over the 650s. It looks like it's hard to go wrong with either purchase and it's a credit to the community that we have the people here who've experienced both that can describe them well enough for new buyers to go in "knowing" the difference.

Out of curiosity, are the HD600s and 650s still made or are they EOL? I'm pretty sure Sennheiser still has parts for repair/replacement...

True, I hope there ends up being a clear winner in the end though. Would be a shame to conduct a 2 week poll with 120+ voters ending in a draw

What's so bad, either can is first rate.

The HD625, half HD650 (bass, middle) and half HD600 (mid/high, high) would be fine.

I am trying to choose which one I should go with. However, I'm not really clarified in terms of differences besides "live sounding(?)".

For my classical music taste:

Very rich sound (especially bass, but still overall)

NO dry sound (live acoustic)

Between bright and dark (but more towards to dark)

I really love listening to choir (Russian orthodox, etc) a lot..

Please help.
