The Ultimate HD600 vs HD650 Poll [CLOSED: HD600 Wins!]
Jan 20, 2014 at 3:26 PM Post #61 of 139
I am trying to choose which one I should go with. However, I'm not really clarified in terms of differences besides "live sounding(?)".

For my classical music taste:

Very rich sound (especially bass, but still overall)

NO dry sound (live acoustic)

Between bright and dark (but more towards to dark)

I really love listening to choir (Russian orthodox, etc) a lot..

Please help.

For classical music, the HD600

Yea, I hear this a lot, but I really want to know what makes it the 600? Also, what about 800? although this one is lyk others x3 $$

The HD800 is the best headphones for classical and worth the x3 $$, IMO.

IMO, the HD650s aren't airy enough for classical music, though I prefer the HD650's sound signature in-overall over the HD600's.

For me, the tonal accuracy. It's a lot closer to neutral, and the extra treble presence makes it feel more open, even though soundstaging capabilities are virtually the same.

But ultimately, it's what your preference is. For people who like the HD650 sound, the HD650 is preferable for any genre. 'Very Rich' does sound more HD650, too.

To me the HD650's soundstage is wider than the HD600.

The HD625, half HD650 (bass, middle) and half HD600 (mid/high, high) would be fine.

buy the hd650 and add a silverplatedcopper cable...= HD625  :p
And the hd600 is buried forever.

So I should add the HD625 to my signature, though I use a pure-silver cable.

So the final score is:

HD600: 72
HD650: 66
Undecided: 18

Amongst people with a clear preference HD600 does significantly better than the HD650:

HD600: 38
HD650: 27

So:

HD600 IS THE CHAMPION!

I already have the hd650 so it wouldn't make sense to have the hd600 as well. Likewise, I can't see myself getting a hd650 if I already had the hd600.

This is how I see these two...just like identical twins, but you can always tell them apart...but they are also identical.
