The Sennheiser HD-600 thread

At the Colorado head-fi meet 2 weeks ago, a 200 hour pair of HD600 sounded the same as my HD600 with well over 1,000 hours. A cable makes a bigger difference than burn-in, assuming you have a good enough source and amp first.

Agree... the HD580/600/650s barely change with burn in - cable, and set up are much greater determinants of their sound.

200 hours is BIG hours! How about comparison with a brand-new pair?

GF2,
I respectfully and emphatically disagree that the HDxx0 barely change with a re-cable--if that's what you meant. : )

Relatively new owner of these headphones and I LOOOOVE them! After a few weeks of listening I tried my Grados again and wasn't nearly as infatuated with them as I once was - I'm surprised, but I think I like the Senn sound signature better...

I ended up going back to the HD600/Cardas combo. I got the Cardas with the 1/8" termination for The Hornet. I get the urge to "big" home amp, but just can't justify it. There is something special about the HD600s.

Just got HD 600s recently, haven't got a decent amp to actually relish them. Waiting for Graham Slee Novo so that I can have a laugh for about a week and then I can decide upon investing in the portable or stationary amp. Had a listen straight out of few things. It sounds great. Would post some impressions in near future.

Just listening to my pair. Sometimes I get surprised by these headphones' capabilities. Now what impresses me is the deep and punchy bass I'm hearing while listening to Vanden Plas - Far Off Grace. Very nice teamwork by Cardas and Sennheiser.

Thanks!

Yes, the 2MOVE does well with HD600 for a portable - the HD600, RS-1, Edition 9 and Denon D2000 were the cans I used to review the 2MOVE and it was better by a small margin with the first three headphones vs Pico, while the Pico was better with D2000 but not bad with the 2MOVE. I ranked the 2MOVE between the Predator and Pico, but depending on your tastes any of those could move to 1st place (it was also better than iBasso D2 Viper stock, but not when the opamps were upgraded in the Viper): UPDATED 9/8 MINI-REVIEW of 9 USB DAC amps - Predator, Pico, 2MOVE, D2 Viper/Boa & D1, Headstage, HR Micro Amp, Vivid Tech V1 - Page 33 - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio
