Folks who have Renata and Pyramid, how do they compare? Better yet, how do they synergize with the Voltage?

Playing catch up after being out of town and away from my rig most of the month. I may have missed a few things but don’t seem to have seen many comparisons of the two.

Brought both the Renata and Pyramid cables with the Voltage today. Currently at work for this short comparo.
Truth is both cables works extremely well on the Voltage. Both enhancing technicalities on the Voltage but the pyrmaid has just a bit more of an effect on the voltage sound.

I noticed the Renata seems to be a touch more efficient in that using it brings volume up by a few dbs. I have to raise the volume up in order to volume match using the Pyramids. Pyramids gives just a touch better sound separation which ends up giving the Voltage a bit more dimensional effect when it comes to imaging for its sound vs the Renata. Has a slight additional richer tonal quality vs the Renata due to having some gold in the mix.

Both enhance the treble note to be a bit highlighted but not like a pure silver cable. Just better detailed if that makes sense. This is a case where the price differences between cables will give you a clue into which one does a bit of extra. Like I was saying if you owned the Renata I dont know if getting the Pyrmaid will be a necessity, now if you don't own either I would say go for the Pyrmaid. We are talking subtle differences between both. Both cables strengths being that they both enhance imaging, sound separation while throwing out a wider stage. I feel the Pyramid gives just a touch more definition in all parts of the spectrum.

I am glad I got to do this comparo because I had no idea just how close the Renata was to the Pyrmaid. They aren't too much apart in what they do for sound but the Pyrmaid seems to have just a touch extra in a few areas that makes them a bit higher end. It could be due to a slight increase of a blacker background vs the Renata as music notes seems to pop just a hair more so using the Pyrmaids. Both do bass definition excellent and I can even say is a wash there and both enhance percieved detailes to a nice higher end level.

Pyramids provides just a bit more contrast in for your music vs the Renata and that is really the difference between the two. I think for folks that want a bit of a more detailed experience on the Voltage. You would do well with either one actually. So I would go with what you can afford. I don't think folks will be disappointed with either cable on the Voltage.

Thanks for the detailed comparo! I was indeed trying to work out if I wanted to get the Pyramid since I already own the Renata, and it seems they’re even closer than I imagined.

Are these your values? It looks as if the quattro sounds very energetic from the upper mids onwards.
I didn't create the EQ, it was created by DucBloke in squiglink. He's been posting on Facebook about his insane and awesome eq process. This EQ was created from measurement from my Quattro.

Doing this comparo made me realize just how good the Renata is. Heck if you want a bit of an uptick for imaging try using the purple 4.4mm plugs on them and it will get even closer to the Pyramid. I dont know if it will be worth spending the bucks to get the Pyramid in your case. Now them purple plugs those are worth owning for folks with modular cables.

My Renata’s plug is fixed, but that would have been fun. I do recall enjoying the Purple and OFC plugs with the Asos.

Thanks! In fact the R3II was the only DAP I had with me on the road. I used it with the Penon Vortex and Venture Electronics Vita cable [...]
Wow, I would try the Vortex if it weren't for the fact that it's a single DD. I say this because I found a very good synergy for the R3II with the DUNU FU and its original cable. On the other hand, the NEO 5, with ISN CS02 cable, has a very good synergy with the Cayin N3U DAP. For scaling, I think it will be better with hybrid models. I want to be right when it comes to investing around €500.

Thanks for answering. 👍🏻

The ASOS (with Purple plug) is only slightly different than the ASOS+, in my opinion. I went over them in my ASOS+ review.

My journey in the world of flat head earbuds just took and interesting turn today, the Penon BS1 Official arrived talkabout TOTL presentation wow! This may be an older release but it still stands among the new DIY landscape with its sound signature having that unmistakable expert Penon sound tuning I've come to love. I'm really going to enjoy comparing this extremely well built set with my collection of Flat heads.

I always wanted to check them out but in the end went with Rikobuds Grand Berserker 2. I wonder how is this one like in comparison 🤔
