I just have to get this off my chest: It's really starting to bug me that every post for an IEM or cable lately seems to be cross-posted between both the Penon thread and the ISN thread. Even if the product isn't from ISN, it still gets posted on the ISN thread. It's just annoying to have to scroll through the same posts twice.
P. S. And yes, I'm going to cross-post this one over on the ISN thread.
Change out that cable. It becomes another beast altogether. This is a case of providing the basics for what that sound is like but my goodness do those scale to better cables.
You got cables. Try this and that. Thats the fun part. Not gonna ruin that for you.. Actually any decent aftermarket cable will be better. The base cable the NEO3 comes with is a very vanilla copper cable. It is what they can throw in as a free bee at the price so anything with some better resolve to the cables will bring out a better sound on the NEO3. Looking forward to see what you come up with and they do deserve a better cable.

Yeah, I tried this, but it is extremely hard to get them both inserted to the same depth and getting a good seal is impossible. So I would say the results are inconclusive at best.
I have a 4.4mm cable and they sent me a new one due to some issues they identified. I had some odd distortion initially and thought I'd have to return mine, but after changing things around it seems to have resolved, fyi.

Folks who have Renata and Pyramid, how do they compare? Better yet, how do they synergize with the Voltage?
Playing catch up after being out of town and away from my rig most of the month. I may have missed a few things but don’t seem to have seen many comparisons of the two.
Thanks! In fact the R3II was the only DAP I had with me on the road. I used it with the Penon Vortex and Venture Electronics Vita cable - my default ultraportable rig and the lightest and smallest one I could live/travel with - stellar coherency and natural timbre and staging, helped by its synergy with the Vita and R3II.
Even so, I hardly had the opportunity to use it this time and subsisted for long periods on my AirPods Pro 2. Good ANC but can’t say the same for its sound. The upside now is that almost anything I put in my ears at the moment sounds freaking amazing
Edited to add a fun photo from my previous travels that I’d forgotten to post back then - the closest my Vortex has ever got to its hometown, or at least, facing what I hope is roughly the direction of Sheung Shui:
