I measured the power consumption of three dongles, iFi Go Bar, L&P W2, and Penon Tail. I have to admit that I'm impressed with how power-efficient Penon Tail is. First time seeing such a dongle that could react to the music playing and headphone connection and change its power consumption. Also, I was impressed that Penon Tail keeps the voltage constant with iPhone, it is early to conclude, but it means that Penon Tail should not suffer in the SQ with iPhone compared to the Android and Desktop sources. I hear a noticeable difference between my iPhone and Macbook when I use the Go Bar and W2. While W2 sounds less smooth on iPhone, Go Bar reduces the dynamic range and details.

Here are results:
Source: Macbook Air M1, Headphone: DT770 80ohm Balanced
Penon Tail, 4.4 input, -60 volume, high gain, Power Usage: 5.21V, 0.08A, -0.4168W
L&P W2, 4.4 input, -80 volume, high gain, Power Usage: 5.21V, 0.11A, -0.5731W
iFi Go Bar, 4.4 input, -80 volume, iem match off, Power Usage: 5.21V, 0.16A, ~0.8336W

Penon Tail, 4.4 input, ~50 volume, low gain, Power Usage: 5.22V, 0.08A, ~0.4176W
L&P W2, 4.4 input, -50 volume, low gain, Power Usage: 5.21V, 0.11A, ~0.5731W
iFi Go Bar, 4.4 input, ~50 volume, iem match on, Power Usage: 5.21V, 0.13A, -0.6773W

Bought my first ever Penon: the Penon Serial
1000002603.jpg

I bought it used for 212$. It seems to belong to the first few batches, considering it hads black instead of silver printed names.
Also:

Considering that it has this godly level of channel imbalance, as well as NO 2-pin problem, i consider myself just win a gacha game.
First impression: Rather... underwhelming tho. But, since i'm coming from bright and semi bright iem (Heyday, Oline SE, EA500), i'll let myself adjust to this newly introduced type of tuning

Eye Candy

Matches exceptionally well with Globe. The Furukawa delivers differently but equally nice compared to stock. No sloppiness, solid weight and impact all across, very coppery in character. Cost less than ten bucks during sale, value champion!
Ooh. I have a few of those cables. I'll give it a try tonight.
Only thing that's a slight drawback is that it has the extended 2-pin connector and the Penon/ISN family seems to fit a bit better with the normal, flat (non-extended) 2-pin connectors.
Still, these look very nice together.
I'm currently using the cable that comes with the Juzear 41T (bought a few extras).
Cheers!

The SPC version from XINHS in my opinion is a better pairing and can be made with reg 2 pin. Or this IVIPQ cable also sounded great.

Has anyone else compared Penon Tail to something like the Truthear Shio? Seen a couple people mention them with a little favor to the Penon, and just curious if there are others who've used both. Liking the Shio so far but the Tail is more attractive, has the dedicated play/pause button, and is a good deal when accounting for the additional cables it can include.

I am also intrigued by the current Fan 2 discount...
