I’m from the UK and thinking of ordering IEMs and cables from Penon. Was wondering if anyone have been charged with customs tax etc?

I think the orbs are vastly superior to the e5000. Imaging , vocal clarity , bass are far superior. I find the e5000 quite muddy and too v shaped for my personal taste. The clarity on the orbs are exceptional

IIRC, when I got to try the e5000 I found it too dark for my taste. Tho it's near natural in tonality. I just couldn't find myself going for it because of its sound relative to price.

Just wondering if there's any IEM worth buying that is an upgrade to Orb's treble and airiness under $500. H40 is the only one I'm aware of that has a superior treble for my taste, but Orb trumps it for bass and vocals.

The LZ A6 and iBasso IT04 come to mind.

Edit: Also the JVC HA-FDX1 has excellent treble, but it has a totally different signature from the ORB.

I've heard the IT04 multiple times. Indeed, the treble part sounds good to me. The perceived soundstage and airiness also has edge versus Orb. I already have the IT03 and that can somewhat satisfy me as much as the IT04 can. I just can't get the vocal and bass performance of Orb on those. Thanks for the recommendation though. I appreciate it.

Orb synergizes better with the ZX300 (MrWalkman ZX300++ firmware) having a well-rounded bass. The AK70ii has warmer tonality, with the bass being a bit scattered and slightly boomy with the Orb. The ISN D02, however, pairs well with the AK70ii adding a nice rumble while the switch is turned to ON.

Sorry if this is derailing the thread, just want to respond regarding the H40. I found this from the thread:

"If the H40 fits you well, you have no inner ear issues and you enjoy the relaxed detail of the H40, you should be happy. Although, if you want an IEM with a better fit (much smaller), no inner ear suction issues, much cleaner presentation, better instrument separation, faster/tighter bass, and better detail, the FH3 is IEM for you. They do have generally similar FR, but the FH3 has smoother yet still detailed treble. The H40 treble is a tad more abrasive."

If this happens to be true, then I'll have a different target partner for my Orb.
Thanks for this. I felt H40 treble to be just fine for me, means FH3 treble will be too smooth for me. But the rest of the impression seems attractive. Do you think FH3 will be a better grab than Orb?
