The PENON official thread

I think I might try some Epro tips (normal and inverted) and noticed there are two different variants, EP00 and EP01. Which one would be best for Volt and Legend? I suppose I could order both from Amazon, but thought I'd ask here first. Thanks!

seems the ep01 has the wider "mouth". Tongue starts @ 4.7mm dia., whilst the 00 starts @ 3.5mm. dia.

Yep, just not sure which would be best for the Penon iems. Am I correct in assuming that the inverted tip mod discussed in this thread uses the Epro EP00?

Yes.
For the Volts, I use both varieties, standard, inverted
other tips i regularly use Sedna standard - for the treble as well as the most impactful bass
Honestly, I still do not have the 01, but this to buy, is in the pipeline...

Hey I have few questions
1. What's the difference in the size of Mangrid tea vs Penon Globe ?
2. Dunu sa6 vs Penon Globe
Considering....
  1. Warm and smooth treble/mid/bass iem (I am very sensitive to peaky highs), also clean and clear sound, wide soundstage that with too front sound.
  2. Genres I listen: acoustic, rock, classic, hip hop and sometimes even trance. So it’s varied.

Thanks.

I'd imagine there's an essence of u12t tonality in the mids, The Globe is not neutral, a little more warm, lush but energetic
Other impressions
Globe (the owner upgraded to the legend)

Legend and Golden Armour. The Golden Armour is a pure silver cable plated in 24k gold. https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/penon-golden-armour.25445/

These are somewhere between the pure silver Flows and the Storms in what it does for the Legend. Pairs extremely well with the Legends while giving a bit of that Storm sound properties. Another great match up with the Legend.

The Legend just keeps getting better and better. I've been delayed writing my review by things outside of my control, but I do think that has been for the better. The more time I spend with these, the more I appreciate what they achieve and what they offer at this price point.

They're excellent for the asking price.

I'm there with you ian91, I'm extremely impressed with the Legend. Not having owned megabuck IEMs, I don't have a frame of reference but it seems to me it's pretty hard to get much better- different maybe, but not better....

Really eager to read more Legend reviews. I think I'll get the Globes sometime in October and see how I feel about Penon IEMs, and if I'm into them, start saving up for the Legends. A nice pair of IEMs that does everything I throw at them well would be great now that I'm probably going to start going to the office a bit more again soon.

I've just posted my Legend review here.

There's alot to be said for this IEM and I hope to see more reviews surface to cover it all. All I can say is that I'm very satisfied and feel as though I've found the IEM I have been searching for since I started out on this journey several years ago. If you're in any way interested in a good midrange and value for money, you need to give the Legend serious consideration.

Keep up the great work! I would love for you to compare/review the $200-ish DDs like the 2021 Hana, the Kato, the Falcon Pro, the FAN, and FD3.

aside: I have the 2021 Hana (what an awesome IEM, especially for the price), the FAN (another favorite of mine), and I have Kato on pre-order. I will compare the 3 and also the Starfield.

Thanks for your kind words! It hasn't been easy to collating all my thoughts on the Legend. It was a difficult one to initially pin down. I knew it was good but I needed to tease out the 'why'.

I would love to compare those too. I'm afraid, for now, my money is going elsewhere (namely earbuds). If I'm ever in a position to line those IEMs up I'll get something down on paper for sure.

The FAN is still a great DD for the price and I prefer its tuning to the Starfield.
