So the bass for these things. You want to talk about new ground for Penon. So I happen to own one of the best in ear IEM for bass quality in the IER-Z1R and the Rival brings a higher level of bass in both adgility, texture and its extension is freaky.
So there is some bit of news regarding the new Pyramid 6 core.
Will be priced at $419 and the 8 core will be a bit higher at $499
I am thinking if the 6 cored variant comes very close to the 8 cored version it might be the better way to go.
I could probably do it since Penon does the gift certificate thingy and I could actually buy something more than 800 from them but I'm too impatient to save up that long lol
we'll see how the wind blows
I'm very impressed with the Penon OCC849 what a great copper cable I think I'm preferring it ti the EA Ares S8w. Just put it on my Meze Advar and they've never sounded so good. What terrific value for money. Thick but not too thick weighty but not too heavy with fab ergonomics

I'm waiting for my OCC849. With the V.I.P really good value. Just received the XINHS G88...£19 Quid.... Astonishing for such a good cable and it's gonna be even cheaper in the sale

I am not kidding when I say it's the best Penon, by a longshot. I'm also demoing AK/EE collab Novus ($5k) which happens to have an almost identical driver setup (and for Novus, that means 2x the famous EE W9+ subwoofer DD) and the same Sonion BCD.
Rival outshines it, just barely, with regard to staging, coherence and timbre. Rival also has no BCD driver flex, but Novus has plenty.
Very excited for Penon to get this amazing iem into the market! And I wish they'd start burning them in at least 100 hours before going out!

Sounds like a great set but considering I just lost my Mext im basically out of dosh as I can't resell it for other stuff. Idk what to do now, I'll probably call it quits for now lol
Nope its smaller than average size for fitment. They will provide a nice spacer ring to make it large if you need that but they are physically a smaller build vs the standard buds.
Conductor on bottom, Serratus on top. Serratus is standard shape and size
This may be exactly what I'm looking for in a bud. All the buds I have purchased don't seem to fit well enough for longer listening sessions, +1 hour, basically they hurt (that's why I have all my earbuds for sale)...I guess I do have smaller ear conchas? And was moving back to full sized headphones (again). Thx again dsnuts for your insightful reviews and descriptions.
Best!

This pic by @-rowan- here is pretty important to how they might fit your ears. Cus as you know fitment is pretty much everything to buds and IEMs.
While the head of the bud is actually physically smaller the neck of the conductor is still the same thickness as your conventional buds.
This may or may not affect how they might fit for you.

I appreciate that. I may have to buy and find out but mostly for me the issues are the size of the actual "flathead" section of the buds that gave me the most problems.
Oh yea I know what your talking about. The roundness of the bud itself can cause hot spots inside the concha of the ear. If that was your main concern. The conductor will fit you much better as it is physically smaller more compact, though it houses a rather larger 14.2mm dynamic.
Conductor bottom right corner. Penon BS1 left bottom and TGX Serratus on top. Serratus is actually common size for buds and it is much larger in comparison.
