More early impressions here by Mimouille

Ah, finally, we see the Sony case for it! Thanks for the impressions, @Mimouille!

Jude, ALAC?  for shame!!@  (then i saw how much this thing costs, and it is way WAY WAY out of my budget.)

LOL. A lot of my music is in either ALAC or AIFF.

No streaming support at all as there is no wifi support

NO WIFI - %$**$......*&^^* !

You cannot be serious !!!!

Great for me as this forces staying with ZX2.

On Wi-Fi: looking at @jude's video, top right, it's almost like a reception signal signifying HSDPA data connectivity?

On the remote: likely Bluetooth. Does anyone currently use an Android Wear watch to successfully control their Android-based Sony DAP?

On WalkmanOS: Java applications traditionally run in a virtual machine/sandboxed environment, but something makes me believe Sony DAPs would use JavaOS (which is now legacy). Potentially they've switched to a C-based system (or still run JavaOS).

On the NW-ZX2: damn...I'd even consider paying for a firmware update. I hope beyond hope someone finds either the hardware drivers to inject into an AOSP build or finds a root exploit for us to work backwards from. Praying that Sony develop some form of kaizen for their high-end DAPs. 6.x or 7.x would be a god-send.

Since no wifi, can we assume that Sony will continue NW ZX2?

and

Can we expect that ZX2 price will fall?

Mmmm......the specs sheet clearly says bluetooth and nfc. No wifi. A silly omission if you ask me. Was there a special reason to ditch wifi and, by extension, streaming services? Just barbaric. Not buying this.

Not too sure.  I can only speculate, but I'd say it is either SQ reason, lack of space, or simply to optimize the UI?  I will check a little later on the reason for this omission.

I dont care about streaming at all, why whine and cry like little kids? can you be grateful that sony really listened to our requests of more power, retain microSd slot, nice build, composer search etcetera?

I dont need streaming as i have a 750GB library with 43960 tracks 2600+ albums

Mmmm...because Sony already made streaming possible with the ZX2? It is an inexplicable omission and this new DAP is still Android-based (as per specs). I also have a sizeable music library but Tidal.com is very important to me (as with others). I am not whining. Just expressing my preference.

They are not Android based
