Based on Sony websites, it states that the 1Z runs on Android platform:

Did I miss something?

I am asking because, the main reason I have yet to invest in TOTL DAP like the AK380, due to the inability to stream music. Wondering if the 1Z is the DAP I have been waiting for i.e. High-end DAP with the ability to stream music.

It looks like a locked down version of android. Just like the ones on Astel and Kern players. So you may not be able install apps from the Play Store.

Same for me: No streaming = No buy

And... Unfortunately those new SONY do not (apparently) allow for streaming ! Which Is 10 steps backwayd compared to the Zx2 !!!

I am still hoping bmichels, at least until when the 1Z is officially in the market.

The reason for my slim hope is that the 1A, based on Sony website specs runs on Sony OS (that must be some reason it's different than 1Z, and I really wish it is because of streaming capabilities):

some where I read it was java based, but seems impossible because java needs a virtual machine to run, just like the .NET  framework

Already checked in the sony.com website and they state the pricing as you said, the 1A 1,199.99 and the 1Z at 3199.99​

I would hope there's a HUGE difference in sound signature/quality to justify the $2k difference in price.
