The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Anybody know the UK Warranty period on the T1 gen 2?
There is a leaflet in the box saying 5 years, info from beyerdynamic in a press release online saying 5 years, Amazon saying 5 years- BUT the booklet inside the box says 2 years as does a local seller.
Apologies if this has already been addressed but there's a lot of pages on this thread and I couldn't find anything when I quickly looked.
Thanks for any help.

OK GOT ANSWER: 5 YEARS.

Hi friends,
Anyone who has heard (have) t1 and he6 side by side (at the same time)?
I'm looking for your opinions.

Maybe it's the shape of my lugholes but I'm finding the sound-stage of the T1 widens as I position the ear cup further back on my head.
Anyone else noticed this or am I just imagining it?
Could be a very useful attribute of the T1.

Apologies if it's already been mentioned somewhere else in the 696 pages of this thread.

Yes, soundstage and tonal balance change a little bit. Same happens with the K702 and to a lesser extent with the HD800.
I think it might be related to the angled drivers/pads.

Angled drivers are my guess (are the T1 pads angled?). Makes sense that the relation to the position of ones ears to the angle of the drivers would effect such things.

DT990 sound stage also changes with position on ears.

Shh... Don't ruin our hypothesis

Now seriously, yes most headphones with relatively big earpad openings change their sound when changing the position, but it seems angled drivers (or pads) yield more notorious differences.

Hey everyone, long time akg fan here if my name doesn't make it obvious.
Anyways, when I received my T1 and gave it a listen I was immediately not impressed. The mids sounded completely off, kind of sibilant but completely lacking body or natural tonality. After leaving my T1 to sit next to the pile of headphones I don't use very much I decided to give it a shot and EQ the T1.
Wow, the headphones sound incredible now. Vocals and electric guitar finally sound natural and have the complete tonality and body to them unlike previously where it was lacking but sibilant. Female vocals were not affected that much to my ears since the subdued mids actually helped female vocals sound smooth while still being audibly upfront before EQ.

Anyone who disregards the T1 like innerfidelity because of the tonality of the headphones and has DMG equilibrium or equivalent software, I highly advise you give it a shot. It truly is a night and day difference
@Me x3 I told you in another thread I did not like the T1 because of the mids, but now they sound gorgeous, I would like to hear your thoughts if you are able to EQ them

The thing is my T1 measures slightly different than most other measured T1s
It's been a while since I started wondering how many types of T1 you can find.

I've seen bright T1s like this:

Less bright T1 like this:

or this:

Awfully matched T1 like this:

Mine's similar to the less bright one but different in the upper midrange. Here you have mine compared with AKG K712:
Pink Trace is the T1 - Green Trace is K712

It is almost impossible to compare. The two require very different setups. I use my he6 with my ear Yoshino transformer coupled speaker amp primarily; whereas my t1 stays with my otl amp, and I have to pick a warm combi of tubes for the t1 (so far, takatsuki 274b, gec 6as7g and red base 5692 is what I like). In general I think the he6, properly amped, is the hardest hitting, most visceral headphone I've ever heard. The T1 is brighter, leaner, probably a bit faster. I think the dt880/600 is a good one to try to see if you like the beyer house sound.

Hmmm... What is the serial number on your T1? Mine is 24xx. To my ears, I have the brighter one because when I EQed my T1 according to that one, it worked a lot better than the goldenears measurement. Yours seems to have a bump at 2khz which probably makes mids sound much better at stock than mine
