I generally dislike IEMs with DD lows and BA mids. I can deal with BA bass and DD mids or full DD/full BA, but BA mids barely ever get the texture right - the A18S and the VE8 are two notable exceptions to that

Well, you know how it goes. You will ask 10 different people, and will get 10 different answers based on their individual preferences

And just like we say here "welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet", there is another saying "if you want to find iem to keep you happy for a long time, after your next purchase stopped reading head-fi for a long time" :D
Lol I know your right. Question is which would keep me happier longer solaris se or u12t

Haha

I shall then delete my headfi account as I got an outstanding gear collection now. No need for anything anymore )

As a last note I got my self a huge audio library so no more streaming ! Its 60% 24bit + resolution ) ) )

Got also dsd's aaa those sound so seductive!

@twister6
One of the best decisions I made (for my wallet and sanity) is that I discovered you don't have to buy an iem/dap/magic unicorn etc etc to be interested in it. Sure new toys are fun (and expensive!) but not always necessary. Mind you having the ears from hell with regards to fit might have something to do with it!

CanJam London would have been a good place to make this decision for you since both manufacturers usually attend, but I don't know how realistic the July dates are...

If you're looking to replace the IER Z1R then the Solaris SE. If the IER Z1R is right up your alley and you're looking for a good compliment then the u12t (IMHO).

also a good compliment to ier-z1r would be the sony M9 as well :)

i looked at the above 2 posts and thought vitaliy had quoted and responded to himself.

if you look at crocodile's avatar peripherally, it looks very similar to vitaliy's.

weird...

Thanks for that, mmvRAZ. I'm going to have to ask you to stop raving about gear I can't afford...

I do have a couple of questions:
  • Can you offer some more in-depth comparisons between the A18s and some other IEMs not from the 64Audio line-up? Perhaps Camp Fire, qdc, Empire (not really for me, but for others)?
  • In particular, how does the A18s compare to the Fir M5? Even though I likely won't choose to afford that IEM, I've heard it.

Working from home gives me perks that I don’t have at the office due to having to hear the emergency alarm and employees constantly needing something.
