traillii (~$5k) + orphy (~$5k)
erlky (~$4k) + orphy (~$5k)

u12t on stock cable (~$1.4k) sounds really great for the price, and in general.

u12t doesn't beat the above two combos for me...point is that diminishing returns hit hard, yo.

What cable you going to use with the u12t? Just the stock cable?
stock cable for now, mainly because i'm amused how good it sounds.

this particular stock cable from 64a is arguably one of the worst...however, if you consider that it's designed for stage performers (and to effectively be disposable,) it's perfect.

i also have a 1950 that turned my a18t into a beast back in the day, so i'll probably try that on the u12t. maybe i'll slap the orphy on for fun...

the point once again, is that imo, for the price, the u12t is an absolute no-brainer for an all-rounder that simply sounds great.

i wasn't trying to knock on cable choices. i was asking because you've used everything and i'm currently in the market for a cable for my u12t.

any recommendations on u12t cable pairings?

No budget at the moment, just trying to find a good pairing but it doesn't have to be the best of the best. I honestly don't like the flexibility of the stock cable, it's really annoying when I'm putting it away, lol.

1950 as in? https://www.accessoryjack.com/produ...headphone-cable-4-wire?variant=32919789469784

Or is it a custom model made by @doctorjuggles ?

And just to be clear, we are talking about 1950 clone cable, since 1950 is PWA cable model

any of the duo owners would say it needs burn in, are the mids more detailed than u12t, and which has more detail the u12t or do ?

the one I have (shown in the picture I posted) is made by doctorjuggles. and yes, it is a clone of the cable you linked...I call mine the j1950 :relieved:

it costs a fraction of the price and the quality is extremely good. he even sources all of the exact same parts and can customize if you'd like.

can't recommend him highly enough.

my orphy on the other hand...no shortcuts or clones available for that one...

blacker background, better detail, bigger stage, more refinement across the fr.

remember, when we're talking about $1k+ cables we're talking within the context of diminishing returns...price increases exponentially for less and less gain the higher you go.

it really comes down to two things:

1) how sensitive are your ears?

2) how much are you willing to spend?
