Consider me whelmed.
Actually though, I find this rather interesting and at a price point that while still high for a 2 driver IEM that doesnt feature any new driver types, its not terrible. Especially because if I am going to consider any IEMs at this point its absolutely not going to be any of those new ultra high priced ones. And its actually a fresh new release! It also looks like they are including all their most up to date tech in this one. I do wonder however how the semi open back will actually perform. Gotta say, this one actually does interest me. Now just need to find out what the sound is supposed to be like.
Still also wish they could have just released this info on "announcement" day.
and unexpected $1,199 price
OK, with more cats out of the bag, here are some shots:
Thanks for some photos! Is the shell size comparable to their other universals?
Edit: Also, that cable, while not looking ultra premium, seems like a HUGE improvement over their previous stock cables. No memory wire, and from the photos it looks like it wont be nearly as stiff as the others.

My main concern with it is the -12 db of isolation. That isn’t enough for me I’d say.
Still intrigued and looking forward to impressions regardless.

Hmmm....must say, I did not see that coming. In a way really excited at what this can bring to the table at that price point (and how the semi-open design turns out), but also a little disappointed - no flagship and, more conspicuously, no real new tech.
So much for all that talk of Planar flagships haha nevertheless, looks quite nice. So it sits below the U6t in pricing... wonder how it matches up in the technical department... although its obvious they aren't going for the same demographic with these.
Hmmm the description of the sound appears to imply a tilt towards the lower frequencies - "non-analytical top end", "no loss of bass", "rich low frequencies", "plenty of sub bass). I have a u12t and I can't imagine wanting even more skew to the bass. It will be interesting to see the reviews for this new IEM.

Much appreciated, thanks! Ill be looking forward to some sound impressions whenever you are able to share them. Here how it looks next to Trio:
Hmmm, a bit thinner in terms of profile. Can imagine a lot more so than the likes of U18t. Still missing the lip and retaining the fail-proof mesh
Also looking forward to impressions and comparisons as they start rolling out.

It is, think of it as Trio with a deeper sub-bass and more organic richer tonality mids and smoother top end. Still the same airy extension of treble (as Trio), but Trio is just too V-shaped and piercing at the top while Duo is a noticeably smoother. And it does have a big semi-open back like soundstage. Sound leakage is not that bad, these are not open-back full size headphones you can't listen to in public. Yes, isolation is only -12dB, but you can easily use them in public transportation, maybe even at the library (or not)
Oh, and lower sensitivity means you have to push volume about 9-10 notches higher than other IEMs.
OK, here is Duo vs Trio in FR:

Ok, you have my attention again...really enjoyed the Trio's sub bass; though its midbass was a little shy or scooped out. But the more organic mids and smoother treble are exactly the "fixes" I would have made to the Trio.It is, think of it as Trio with a deeper sub-bass and more organic richer tonality mids and smoother top end. Damnit. I try to get out, and you pull me back in. Though not sure if its redundant next to the nio.It is, think of it as Trio with a deeper sub-bass and more organic richer tonality mids and smoother top end. ^^ just updated my post above with a few more comments, in case you missed it.
Hm, with only 2 drivers couldn't they make shells smaller? That was my main complaint with Nio/u12t, and that's one of the reasons i prefer Fir Audio iems, they fit me better.
