thanks for the suggestion, i was kinda iffy on grabbing them as i don't know if i really need another headphone (LOL famous last words) as i've already got the M80 and MS-1i serving me quite well.  wanted to be able to pick it up pretty quick too.  but i'll let you know soon if i decide to go for it.  thanks again!

No problem, let me add that these mid-centric S400 would compliment those M80s really well. hoho

Alright let me know if you're interested, if you live in the States shipping should be fairly quick.

DTX cost almost 4X more than the Has-400.. It better sound better than the HA-S400.. Does it sound 4X better? Not really. I don't think it sounds 2X better but it is a technically all around better sounding headphone to my ears over the HA-S400 but so does the HA-S500. If you are looking for a nice alternative to your DTX 501ps I would go for the HA-S500 or if you want something a bit more higher end in sound from both the HA-S500 or your 501p.. Go for a ATH-ES700.

Thank you. Well, I paid $45 for a used pair so I guess I'm fine.

listening to the s400.... quite impressed with them!  Highs could be a little better.... mids are quite addicting.  Mid bas hits pretty strong... low bass is well controlled, defintely more quality than quantity.

Looks like liquid metal was poured on it.

its dynamat, the foam is silverstone acoustic foam.

Holy crap... I just listened to "pretty bird" by the carolina chocolate drops.... The mids on this thing is insane... i'd have to say on par with my t50rp's and jh13's.
